For Fathers' Day, Keir Starmer posts a photo of his own father, who died in 2018, and a non-political message. The replies are a torrent of vitriol & cruelty, all with hundreds of Likes. We complain a lot about the quality of leadership, but there's a huge problem with the way we treat politicians

Solar nerds! We have some movement on plug-in solar. DESNZ's consultation on plug-in solar (panels on balconies and gardens, good for renters) has just launched, and it closes 30 June. Suggesting they want to move fast on this. www.gov.uk/government/c...

It's truly disheartening how many people are willing to believe that the "other side" of whichever conflict is willing to commit sexual violence, but "their side" is above it. The truth is, sexual violence is remarkably common, especially in conflict zones. Denial is always wrong.

This post is utter, utter bullshit. The establishment of a single patient record had been something government has rightly been trying to do for nearly 30 years. If Palantir is given access to NHS data, the existence of a single patient record will, at worst, make it marginally easier for them.

The President of the United States is a criminal. He SHOULD have been convicted for the crimes he led on January 6th, 2021. He WAS convicted of 34 felonies for corruption and harassment. Yet somehow, instead of facing the consequences he deserves, he’s running the government like a mob operation.

Yesterday, a caravan of about 13 cars drove from L.A. to the California City detention center - 100 miles each way. Then we joined a rally in town, and heard about all the people who've died there, including a 16 month old baby. Each center makes about 800K A DAY. It's CECOT on our shores.

If there's ever an argument for shunning AI and writing in a ferociously personal and unstandardised way, it's this one.

Dr Francis Young@drfrancisyoung.bsky.social

Perhaps the darkest argument I’ve heard in favour of writing with AI is that there’s no point writing without it; we’ll all be consuming so much AI-generated content unwittingly that it will re-programme our writing styles and thought patterns. Humans who write without AI will sound like AI anyway.
