Don't worry, I can be angry about lots of things at the same time.

Me, tripping balls, when my friend's mom comes home early and I'm designated "least likely to freak her out" and sent to talk to her.

every moment Trump is out in public these days is like an SNL cold open. This is happening right now

SFPD know that as long as Brooke Jenkins is DA they have a blank check to do whatever they want. She drops charges against violent cops, she doesn't file them.

San Francisco Chronicle@sfchronicle.com

San Francisco public defenders released body-camera and building-camera footage they say shows three officers repeatedly punching, choking and kneeling on a man during a 2025 arrest.

One, this hilariously outs who all got the talking points in advance and how blatantly they parrot those. Two, Schmitt really thought today he'd launch himself to the VP nomination and with that a decent shot at the presidency down the line. Instead this is the only thing he'll be remembered for.

Jim Lokay@jimlokay.com

If you want to really know how the outrage machine gets fired up: 1. Schmitt plans to drop “bombshell” on Smith 2. Someone plants story that Schmitt is a Vance VP contender to run same day 3. Right-wing Twittersphere gets talking points 4. Schmitt steps in it 5. Scheduled tweets go out anyway

If you are a Californian and you are concerned about billionaires' (& big tech) stranglehold over politics and policies - voting YES on 40 should be a basic first step. Prop 40 is nowhere enough but it's least CA can do. And also vote NO on 41 and 42 - poison pills pushed by billionaires/Big Tech.

Jodi Jacobson@jljacobson.bsky.social

#California!!! @sacbee.com endorses Prop 40. This is a good piece with a few caveats. It erroneously accepts that billionaires will "leave the state," a claim disproven in several states where billionaires threw tantrums ovr taxes or, in NYC, Mamdani's election. www.fresnobee.com/opinion/arti...

Straight white man with ivy league degrees and a tenured position thinks elections "feel" existential to people because his entitled life isn't facing existential threaths. And Sarah Isgur shouldn't be able to show her face in public.

The New York Times@nytimes.com

In @nytopinion.nytimes.com “We are in a period where lots of people feel our elections have become what I call ‘existential,’” Rick Pildes tells Sarah Isgur on this episode of “Interesting Times.” “That’s not a normal state of democratic politics. It puts tremendous pressure on elections.”

No one’s calling it Lake America. “Lake America” is what you name a summer camp for soft children who say, “Don’t you know who my father is?” after a t-ball stand strikes them out

Will Gavin Newsom choose the billionaires or the people? Solano County said no to “California Forever,” a private billionaire city. The billionaires said “hold my champagne.” Now they’ve hired Newsom’s own political team to push the project through a shady deal. YouTube deleted this video!

👀 “The Powell memo outlined a strategy. Unite corporate special interests, privilege corporate perspectives in the media, appoint sympathetic judges to the court, and buy politicians in both political parties” - @jamestalarico.bsky.social This is good stuff.

James Talarico: 50 years ago, a corporate lawyer named Lewis Powell circulated a memo around DC — a blueprint for how corporations could amass political power, reverse the gains of the Great Society and the New Deal, and rig the system for themselves. And it worked.

It sometimes feels like we're living in a ridiculously exaggerated folk tale with wildly implausible villains. For example, as the president takes billions for himself and his family and *coats his things in gold,* the soldiers fighting his war can't get toothpaste, hot water, or a clean toilet.

How would I get by without AI? If I need a factually-dubious opinion expressed in a cliched manner with unearned confidence, I’ll just talk to a straight white cis man. I can get by on small-batch, locally-sourced, artisanal mansplaining, the way we always used to.

Did he first tell them he did it washing his truck? Because that would be the perfect way to celebrate Jeff Kent's induction into the Hall of Fame.

Giants outfielder Harrison Bader further injured his sore left foot that has sidelined him for two months when he was involved in a scooter accident in San Francisco, the team announced.

PG&E: We did the bare minimum one would expect from a business and sourced materials at the best cost. We want to increase what our customers pay anyway so we we can give that cash to our share holders. CA PUC: Of course, is there anything else we can do for you? Foot rub? Snack?

San Francisco Chronicle@sfchronicle.com

PG&E asked California regulators to let it collect $26.6 million from natural-gas customers as a shareholder award, arguing its prudent gas-buying decisions saved customers roughly $170 million.

The obvious solution is for these parents, who think they get a yes/no vote on everything taught, to pull their kids out of the most prestigious public school in the city and home school them. I'm confident the slots they open up will be quickly filled by kids who can handle learning racism exists.

Hard pressed to decide which part of this I loved most, but learning Henry Rollins and Ian MacKaye once worked together at a Haagen-Dazs is a strong contender.

Mother Jones@motherjones.com

The Cramps were the brainchild of singer Lux Interior and guitarist Poison Ivy. After Lux's death, Ivy withdrew from the public eye: no interviews, no reunion tours with a stand-in singer. Even so, the band’s legend continued to grow, attracting new generations of fans.

If roughing up a girlfriend and locking her in a room was a virile, authentic a rejection of “smoothgroined” “HR lady” politics, but a rape is too far, then what’s at stake is not a principled rejection of violence against women but a cynical assessment of how much violence a man can get away with.
