“Put simply, despite its positive puffery, this Government’s actions have worsened the cost of living pressure on working Kiwis far more than they have reduced it.” #NZpol

It's just another example of the narrative of poverty being a choice: - It's the fault of unemployed people there are no jobs - It's your fault you don't own a house - your fault you don't have parents who can feed you - your fault, for everything really. Should have chosen better parents.
Mark Mitchell made a rod for his own back with the claim this week that people sleeping on the street are making a "lifestyle choice". Who chooses to sleep in a shop doorway? People with no other choices.

I spoke with Waatea News this morning about yesterday's letter and calls for greater accountability over Seymour's recent actions. It's vital we have an Aotearoa where our academic community is safe from harassment. waateanews.com/2025/06/24/t...

It seems the ideology of privatisation is more important than value for money. ‘Outsourcing to private hospitals was more expensive than expanding public sector capacity, & building new or refurbishing hospitals was also needed, Health NZ execs told Brown in January.1/3 www.rnz.co.nz/news/nationa...

Never forget: NZ Govts for 50 years have bought into an economic management model that relies on keeping a bufferstock of kiwis unemployed & desperate. Jobs are kept scarce, so that kiwis sell their labour at poverty-wage prices. If unemployment is too low, Govt's henchmen at RBNZ crash the economy.
