My heart is heavy. Walter Koenig, our Ensign Pavel Chekov, passed away early today. Walter and I met on the bridge of the Enterprise in the 1960s, and we stayed friends for nearly six decades. When Brad and I married in 2008, Walter stood beside us as our best man.

I usually check out as many games as possible in Next Fest, but the tidal wave of AI trash has beaten me Non-AI indie devs please post your games below and I'll check em out instead Also @steampowered.com PLEASE add an option to filter out AI games in searches. It's killing discoverability #gaming

Awesome, 123Reg have revoked a paid for SSL, without generating a new one 1st and it looks like have triggered the domain ownership process even though its only 6 months old, the support number given in the email is invalid too. URGH. Its like they are trying to make things worse.

eBay users! Don't ignore today's email, even though it looks like a boring standard update to the User Privacy Notice. They want to use your data to train AI models. If you click the link over the words "the right to object", it takes you to a page with a toggle button letting you opt out.

Loved Lucy Dreaming? Then we reckon you’ll be rather fond of Heir of the Dog, our latest #PointAndClick #AdventureGame. But don’t just take our word for it – here’s what our game testers had to say about this #IndieGame: ‘I think it’s even better than Lucy Dreaming, which is a high bar.’ 1/2

If AI takes over video game guides to such an extent that we lose all guide writers... where's it gonna steal the guides from? If nobody's making guides to begin with (because it's no longer profitable, since all of that work is immediately stolen), there's no data for the AI to steal.

absolutely disgusting to shamelessly gloat about vibecoding your product as you're charging ahead to devalue an entire industry and several art forms with copious amounts of AI confetti hyperslop, depriving real artists and developers of oxygen

"We vibe coded a new Epic Games Launcher" because "programming is hard", announce company we're somehow supposed to see as a serious Steam competitor https://bit.ly/4hMHbi5

I've been asked if my indie games use AI🤮 No. I spend more time polishing and tweaking than creating it in the first place so the idea of getting slop just seems awful🔪🤖 Support real games and wishlist Gone Feral or buy The Axis Unseen + Deedlee Doo! Carkour!

Microsoft one of the largest most well know software companies on the planet, going since the year dot in terms of computers. WHY can they not write software that isn't an utter dumpster fire? I am so sick of hitting nonsense file locking errors that should not exist. #gamedev

Oh my god this! Ventured into a fast food place for the first time in years a few weeks back. Stop Just let me see the menu FFS! If it wasn't for my blood pressure pills I'd have gone full Michael Douglas in Falling Down.

Im starting a new pub night for game devs in Warrington (UK). It's been a while since you've done a social in my home town. I'm trialing the first one at Costello's in the town centre on the 10th. The intention is to be the 2nd Thurs of each month from the on.

I just cancelled my GamePass subscription. Microsoft Account portal says it expires on the 4th of September (correct, my renewal was the 5th each month). The email confirmation says it will expire on the 5th of September. HOW do they fail at these things so badly? :D

Since im kinda new back to blue sky... ive found some starter packs of devs to follow... but also if any of you have lists I can follow to build up a good feed of cool devs/artists/writers etc please let me know

This! so much THIS! By the time I get to order I have my 1st choice and at least 1 other backup option chosen before I get to the order point.

People queuing in a cafe or restaurant that don't look at the menu until it's their turn to order should be banned from leaving the house

Oh how I do love it when a company you have used for years makes "improvements" to their website and make it a broken mess, and then blame it's non-functioning on the customers browser. *slow clap* yup, that is the way to do it.. Can anyone recommend a domain registrar that's not mad?

I think this post about why the Manchester Mayoral election turnout was so low is possibly missing a factor. Just how terrible the post is now! I have heard of peoples postal ballots arriving ON the day of the vote! www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/cn...

Big Boss Battle has had some funding, so we are looking for some new writers who are possibly looking to write about games (in exchange for game codes) to build a portfolio, and occasionally grab bounties for pocket money. It’s not a paycheck, but can be the start. Email: Dann@bigbossbattle.com
