This is more like it. Take that, Normans. Now do a Brythonic exhibition in Carlisle or Caernarfon.

📢 Coming in 2027: Anglo-Saxon England 📢 Rediscover Anglo-Saxon England. Featuring spectacular jewellery, weapons and treasures alongside the latest archaeological discoveries and research, this exhibition will shed new light on England's origins.

This was literally a ‘lie’ on Would I Lie To You and I cry foul.

My now ex husband would piss me off so much that a once or twice a week I would move the bookmark in his book. Not by much just one or two pages forwards or backwards. Just enough to make him think wait have I missed something or im sure I've read this. He never found out

Believe it or not this video got my book published by giving it to @christhebarker.bsky.social to give to his publisher. Worth a quick watch because it does show you some of the art in the book and communicate some of the insane work that went into it.

Don’t say you weren’t warned about AI agents. Tom has a track record when it comes to predicting these things. My chief worry is that agents will get very good at *complaining*. Get ready for a tsunami of detailed and unrelenting complaint emails.

I’m not a political journalist, so was gladly surprised at the community I found here last night. To Americans anxious about the upcoming elections, a key thing we learned in Brazil that might help you: DO NOT engage with the far-right online. Don’t share rage bait. Amplify your people. Ignore them.

When I read stuff like this, I wonder to myself about how much of the collapse of certain companies and industries is less about systemic change and more about the sheer deep-rooted stupidity of their leadership.

cool, cool

The accelerating nature of America’s moral collapse is quite something. And if Le Pen wins in France does that leave only Britain on the Security Council with any scraps of legitimate claim to representing freedom and democratic norms? You wouldn’t have predicted that in the aftermath of Suez.

⚡️ The Trump administration has proposed former Hungarian PM Viktor Orbán for UN Secretary-General, a decision backed by Russia and China, according to The Wall Street Journal. The US State Department estimates Orbán could secure at least eight votes in the UN Security Council.

Bolsonaro-friendly mayors appear to be sabotaging public transport on Election Day. Buses aren’t running in Lula-friendly areas, flights and ferries mysteriously canceled. Traffic lights have gone out and people’s power cut in Salvador, indigenous people’s travel restricted

We are watching a coup d’état attempt unfold in real time in Brazil. I’m consumed by desperation.

Sport radio is on its latest bout of, “One more managerial change will turn around Manchester United”, when the whole enterprise remains fundamentally, perpetually cursed by a takeover expressly designed to bleed dry a club and enrich a family - cheerily waved through by a certain Alex Ferguson.

Worth noting that the Glazers have supposedly extracted about £1.2bn from United - around £300m than the alleged unfair overspend by Manchester City.

Just reignited Netflix for new series of The Diplomat and my God it’s a mess in there. Dozens of cancelled series. No wonder they sacked the head of content.

Any recommendations for good stuff to watch on Netflix, however obscure? Otherwise we’ll watch The Diplomat and move on. What a ridiculous way to run television.

Wow. Think I’m going to be reading this.

Just started Alice Cooper's autobiography. Already I can tell its going to be excellent. This is NOT going to be the usual "wild men live crazy" rock & roll read.

What a ridiculous waste of time this piece is.

Is there anything more off-putting than someone trying desperately to shill their brilliance? Jo Ellison doesn't think so: ft.trib.al/3721tLz

Ring doorbell app has suddenly started sending me ‘theft alerts’ from other people’s Ring doorbells without me asking it to. I mean when the drone surveillance society hits it hits hard.

The Aristocats. In an Odeon in Blackpool if I recall.

First film you saw at the cinema. The real first one, not the pretend one you tell people! Mine: The Empire Strikes Back, 1980, Wigan. We were near the front and I can still remember how massive the AT-ATs looked, looming over us out of the snow :) Film, year, where, and whatever stuck with you.

I don’t really have a view on the Radio4 Extra decision as I don’t listen to it. But I do sometimes wish that those who start petitions about this stuff would recognise that the BBC can’t pay for everything and has to sometimes make hard choices.

Am reading Dominic Sandbrook’s Never Had It So Good and he tells the story of the near-cancellation of The Third Programme - which became R3 - because its listenership dropped to low five figures. It was saved because of fans in the House of Lords. Everyone wants to keep their favourite thing.
