Experiences like this are what motivate me to create games. I have always known people to be creative when the barriers to entry are lowered. Its precisely my goal with my current project, to trick normal gamers into remembering how to be creative, and let them explore that.
Interactive media means essentially nothing without evoking a feeling alongside it. It's what makes an experience memorable. The emotion I seek to elicit, is pride in ones own handiwork. Its a feeling that people are deprived of nowadays if they have not made it a priority.
I helped make a Steam Sale, and it's right next to Control: Resonant!

Fantastic sale filled with games made by people of color from AROUND THE WORLD.
Check it out! (And please share it too ๐)
I got really emotional tonight about how awesome indie game dev is and how incredible it is that people can make their ideal games into a reality.
Please keep working your games, no matter how big or small your progress is. You doing this benefits us all. I'm so proud of you, no matter what. ๐ฅน
Playing a lot more retro stuff right now, and folks, Iโm here to tell you we (game developers collectively) forgot a lot of good ideas.
By which I mean, Vampirium will contain some innovative stuff as long as you donโt remember the game boy advance.
Clock in, drive the bus, and get passengers to their stops...but SLAP anyone breaking the rules (or throw 'em out the back if they don't behave)! It's Crazy Taxi meets Papers, Please! Launching October 14~
Wishlist THANK YOU BUS DRIVER:
๐จ AMNESIA FORTNIGHT IS BACK, BABYYYYYYY ๐
In 10 days, we're gonna put on the best damn game jam the world has ever seen, and we need YOUR help to keep our indie dreams alive!
Get notified when we launch on Aug 31:
They haven't posted about it yet but this year's GDC State of the Game Industry Survey is available to fill out should any of you desire.
You've seen all the articles and that the results end up driving, so may as well make them reflective of your contributions too.

Code architecture isn't the most thrilling subject, but a necessary one. A well structured code base for any project can minimize pressure headaches when implementing new systems and content. ๐ตโ๐ซ

Game development is partially difficult due to the learning curve, and partially due to learning to manage your time and energy appropriately. It takes a lot of self discipline that I think people forget about.

Been making huge strides in my development of #GlyphicDesigner, my debut #indiegame title! She's still a little ugly duckling, but the gameplay is really getting there. Been fixing a lot of interesting bugs, and will continue to as I get more playtesters on this.

I wonder if the Ai gamedevs know this cool trick, learning to read documentation actually makes you faster and less resource intensive than an llm lmao

I wanted to write something thoughtful about XBOX's wanton destruction spree of their talent, portfolio, and future - on how XBOX has destroyed so much trust from both of its audiences - from developers and players. But how can I write anything thoughtful about such thoughtless greed?
THIS STUDIO MADE THE FAMOUS IDTECH ENGINE AND YOU'RE FORCING THEM TO USE FUCKING **UNREAL**???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
FUCK YOU
Xbox in ten years:
"Xbox needs a reset. We are spending too much on external tooling and expertise. As a result we are winding down our Unreal teams to begin developing internal rendering technologies that will allow us to deliver games that players will love."
Rev up those buttons, it's time for #SGDQ2026 and The Yetee is super-stocked with tees, merch, and more for the weeklong speedrunning event! Created in collab @gamesdonequick.com with a portion of each item sold goes to Doctors Without Borders! theyetee.com
You can now receive work contracts! I dealt with the input puzzle of making sure you could select the papers correctly. It was fun! Contracts are dealt from a pool of options, and is all data driven through JSON dictionaries that are highly editable and extensible! #GlyphicDesigner#indiedev#godot
I was almost asleep when it occurred to me why some of my code had been unreliable for input consumption... gods damn it now I'm very awake again walking through why it would or wouldn't work if I made some changes.
#indiedev#gamers#godot
The mechanic in question is a click and drag movement of papers on a desk. Having strange issues with it picking up multiple pieces of paper on the same click and drag. I think I'm not consuming the input quickly enough because I'm waiting on a _process tick instead of handling it in _input. ๐ค๐
Just got another major system stood up for my game, which is the contracts system. Clients send you all sorts of work requests. Its up to the player which ones they take and which ones they bin. Some clients are repeat customers with a chain of requests!

I put a countdown on my phone's main screen for my demo release target, and it definitely seems to make me think twice before opening social media apps. I am determined to get my game into the hands of players!
Sometimes you just need to keep your goal in sight!

Point and click games are ideal for tablet ports imo. I just wish I knew anything about porting to mobile that didn't make me terrified of trying lmao. So many aspect ratios ๐ญ

๐จ OUT NOW: s.team/a/2945150/ ๐จ
Refactored one of my singleton managers yesterday and ended up on a roll that had me laying out all the transition logic for every screen in my game lmao.

Sorry but we'll never shy away from an excuse to highlight one of the rarest items in our archive: Check out some clips of Nintendo veteran Steve Okimoto introducing the GBA to Nintendo of America employees for the first time! This tape is dated 9/22/00, nearly 8 months prior to the GBA's US launch!
Happy birthday to the Game Boy Advance, which released in the USA on this day in 2001! Can you believe Nintendo's potent little handheld is a quarter-century old this year? We feel old.
Did a fair bit of work yesterday setting up the less glamorous parts of my indie game but necessary ones. Audio and gamestate managers. Event Bus systems. I learned a lot in setting them up myself for the first time!
#solodev#indiedev#godot
Been cooking on my first super serious solo dev project in #godot. Feeling pretty positive about the progress and the speed at which I'm learning new techniques to apply to my game. Really appreciating the resources out there for folks to jump in and get their feet wet!
Thanks Godot Community!
