Audible have been doing original full-cast dramas for years. Proper ones with actual scripts. I wrote one which came out (almost exactly) five years ago. The HP ones are just the books again with famous actors reading the dialogue, that's not radio drama. www.amazon.co.uk/Car-Crash/dp...

Kinda fascinated by this sort of thing. Like the full all-star cast Harry Potter audible books, which I presume did well? Are we re-inventing the radio play?

Good news from Serbia, where the policy of “we’re not the current lot” has worked for Student List just as it did for Biden in 2020 and Labour in 2024. How their candidates will rule with no political experience will be interesting.

The government has renewed longstanding advice in disaster preparedness, with a bit more energy than usual because lots of cyber stuff atm, bit of Russia, and particularly el Niño. Have you seen the weather this weekend? The media is doing loads of coverage because you're clicking it.

What item has given you best value in terms of use? I bought a secondhand Herman-Miller Aeron chair for about £500 in ~2009. Must have used it nearly every day since. Reckon it has another fifteen years in it.

My commitment to Wong Kei being tested to the limit by queuing at a cashpoint in the rain behind people who seem to have never used one before

It's the weekend, it's miserable and wet out there, I strongly recommend you get the kettle on, get this in your ears and do some laughing

Series 2 of THE ABERGELE FILES is now all on Sounds. Chilli cartels, stolen Caravaggios, Los Locos Berserkos and the Minister of Defence's sex slave. Yeah, it's all there www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/brand...

But wait it's all NATO's fault right

Russian President Vladimir Putin cited genetics to declare that Russians and Ukrainians are “one people” and reiterated his claim to Ukrainian territory, saying: “I think that it is not their territory but the historical territory of Russia.”

No idea why, but I just remembered the time I had to check verbatim responses to a survey and they turned into the inner monologue of someone battling their demons.

It is very, very — exceedingly — funny to consider a 21-year-old's political support over "nearly a decade." Perhaps especially when he still looks 11.

The Washington Post@washingtonpost.com

Michael Fusella supported President Trump for nearly a decade. But as the Iran war drags on and the cost of living continues to climb, the 21-year-old Republican said he feels betrayed by a president who said he’d end overseas conflicts and lower prices.

This is disgusting. But even though this is presumably what Trump wanted to happen, seems inevitable (and indeed desirable) that control over where Starlink operates will be taken over by the US government. Absolutely insane that Musk could make this decision privately.

The death of Radio 4 Extra is a very, very sad day. I am genuinely upset by this decison.

For people wondering why The Canary has come to grief, I have an example. In April, I was due to cover the trial of the men eventually convicted of arson offences against then-PM Sir Keir Starmer. The trial was listed to start on April 27. But it started with two days' jury selection and legal stuff

Donald Trump canceled his scheduled Oct. 16 deposition in his lawsuit against the BBC because of "matters of national importance." The BBC alerts the judge that those matters were: a rally in Dalton, Ga. and a fundraiser at Mar-a-Lago.
