Outstanding stuff from the Senator

Q: Can you name a time when you voted against Trump and it changed the outcome? SUSAN COLLINS: At one point, I had organized people to vote against Sec. Hegseth. At the very last minute one of our Republicans changed his mind. Otherwise he would've been defeated. Q: So it didn't change the outcome

I know we already knew this but this administration really doesn't want anyone who is not white to be in the US. Most of our H-1B cap cases this year were F-1 OPT/STEM OPT workers. This tax is real bad for US businesses and universities

Michael Clemens@mclem.org

The US President's new proposal to tax international students has been approved by the White House for release this week. It's an unprecedented $100,000 tax on int'l grads who stay to work after graduation on Optional Practical Training (most grads do), a crucial bridge to remaining by any channel.

i am incredibly excited to share our research about how paying people’s rent through mutual aid made an impact on minnesota this year we accidentally collected more data than anyone ever has for an effort like this, and can very seriously say we prevented an eviction bubble that everyone expected

Virginia-based Legacy Investing withdrew from a purchase agreement for a 20-megawatt data center at the former Star Tribune printing facility in the North Loop neighborhood of Minneapolis.

Two married professors and their son are being held in ICE detention, despite being legal permanent residents and having no criminal records. All, apparently, because their mom/MIL was a translator for the Iranian hostage takers in 1979, before they were even born. www.thenation.com/article/soci...

thenation.comOne Woman’s Message From the Hell of ICE DetentionMy husband, son, and I have been locked up for months—despite being permanent residents with no criminal record. It is an unendurable, unending nightmare.

I love you Minnesota. You didn’t let the wealthy win the night. You didn’t let ICE or genocide win. Thank you for showing up for our immigrant neighbors who couldn’t vote. Let’s go Ilhan Omar and Peggy Flanagan. ❤️

This shit drives me insane. What is the big horrific outcome of this event that people are getting so worked up about? Local affiliate news network exists simply for fear mongering

Pedaling Professor@pedalingprof.bsky.social

How about instead we focus on revoking the license and impounding the cars of anyone who drives drunk, parks in a bike lane, drives down a bikeway, speeds, or uses their phone while driving? You know, the actual dangerous stuff.

Bernie Sanders making a great point on MS Now: Establishment Dems won't go further than tinkering and making minor fixes to health insurance and labor laws, when people want universal healthcare and a living wage. They aren't understanding that the voters want big swings.

That's what taxes are, man. That's the definition of taxes. "You are subsidizing things you might never use" man shut the fuck up. My taxes currently subsidize like oil company exec private jets, you think I'm upset at low-income people eating inexpensive bananas?

USA TODAY Opinion@usatodayopinion.usatoday.com

Opinion: Mamdani's idea may sound appealing, but it's NYC taxpayers who will take the hit, subsidizing discounts they may never even use.

Police murdered a Black man in the street in Madison WI today. Shot point blank in the head while on the ground, tased, and surrounded by four cops. It looks like an execution. Multiple videos circulating online. Things are about to get very bad here.

Amendment 19 passes 219-208. 5 Dems vote yea to ban TriCare from covering trans healthcare for adults. Will update who voted yea once roll call updates, which should be after the last vote of the night.

Fascist Dem Tracker@fascistdemtracker.bsky.social

Amendment 18 is given a voice vote. Yeas win. Mark Takano (D-CA) asks for a recorded vote. This vote will happen later. Amendment 19, sponsored by Nancy Mace (R-SC), would extend the ban on TriCARE covering trans healthcare to include adults. This builds on the youth ban signed by Biden in 2024.

The SAVE America Act mandates that all voters must bring to the polls specifically a photo ID which has proof of citizenship “on the front of the document.” So REAL IDs don’t count. If the ID does not precisely conform to that standard, you must also bring separate proof of citizenship.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Scalise: "Anybody that gets on an airplane has to show a picture ID to vote. Nowadays, if you want to go to Olive Garden and get unlimited pasta, you gotta show a picture ID. This isn't complicated stuff."
