Q: Can you name a time when you voted against Trump and it changed the outcome? SUSAN COLLINS: At one point, I had organized people to vote against Sec. Hegseth. At the very last minute one of our Republicans changed his mind. Otherwise he would've been defeated. Q: So it didn't change the outcome

There was one time. The skinny repeal. But that only changed the result because people didn’t expect McCain to vote against it. If Collins knew McCain was going to vote against it, she would have voted for it.

The only example ever given is when the Republican health care bill was defeated in 2017. But that only happened because they thought it would pass anyway, and McCain voting no was a surprise. Collins has always followed Trump's orders whenever possible.

Token opposition to Trump while the Republican majority continues to enable him is the problem. These individual senators are not affecting anything. The Republican Party needs to be defeated.

A better Q: Can Susan Collins name one example in her entire career where her party didn’t contrive their votes to allow her to vote against something her constituents were against but which of course still passed because that’s how she and her party have played this game for 3 fucking decades?

that was a softball, how the hell could she not have said her voting against Trump's healthcare bill thereby saving Obamacare? is it because she doesn't want to remind Republicans of that vote?

It didn’t change the outcome because it was designed to fail and to provide a bs talking point. Can’t prove a negative. 🙄

Here's an example: Collins (along with Murkowski) voted no on the American Health Care Act of 2017, which would have repealed much of the Affordable Care Act. However, it was an accident! They were both caught off guard when McCain--in dramatic fashion!--also voted no. (Thus sinking the bill).

I saw this and was wondering why she didn’t mention it. She probably just forgot but the accident thing is perfect. Of course she would have changed if she thought it made a difference.

She’s obviously used to the DC “press corps” questions….good to see local journalists staying true to the trade

Members of Congress voting for something they know has no chance of passing happens more often than you might think, and is difficult to explain to voters. Well-phrased question here got the job done.

When a politician changes their mind "at the very last minute" it means he/she/they finally scored the sweetheart secret side-deal they were holding out for.

Suzy Collins is A Liar It was known the ONLY Reason Suzy the LIAR 🗳 No on Drunkard Pete was the 100 % Certainty that he was going to be confirmed! MEDIA should check those GOP Offshore Accts! Trump Coins & the same Person who is buying Stocks that Trump the Insider Trader tells them to buy!

It's pretty obvious she only votes against Piggy when she knows it won't affect anything. She's a corrupt dingbat and needs to go.

For years, Collins and Murkowski would take turns with one of them casting a non-decisive vote to go against Trump while the other voted the other way to ensure the former's "look at me I'm a bipartisan free-thinking moderate" vote did not make any difference. It was a game they played.

Even with this sad performance and her chances of a big win are becoming less likely, sadly it really depends on the ignorance, the meanness and lack of regard of their fellow citizens of the Republican voters.

Odd time to be thumping your chest over failing to keep Hegseth out of office right after he announced he was going to publicly execute someone

Oh my god any candidate would have been dead and buried after these performances. Come on, Maine - I’ll eat lobster for a month straight if you send her packing. Ok not much of a punishment for me.

Yup. Along with Rand Paul. They take turns getting to past the meaningless vote that shows their Independence™. Been doing it since Inauguration Day at least.

Is there good media coverage in Maine of her massive corruption, because all of this should really be irrelevant at this point and I can’t believe GOP ads would be any more effective than they are in Texas

Susan Collins is a prime example of what needs to be voted out of office. She has done absolutely nothing for her constituents in the time she has been in congress. She has violated her oath of office & is a disgrace. She is up for re-election in Nov. 2026. MAINE, DO BETTER! VOTE FOR TROY JACKSON!

Judging by how surprised McConnell was that McCain voted no, I’m guessing the plan was for her vote to not matter on that one as well. McCain just went rogue without telling anyone.

Yeah NO!!! This fake phony caring about their constituents along with their deceptive crap that Susan Collins + other Republicans peddle is no longer affective. The curtain was pulled back and revealed just how corrupt + sinister you ALL really are.

How is that race still 50/50 Maine?! How can you vote for the woman that promised 2 terms and done. She’s been there how many??!! Term and age limits are needed in Congress, the White House and certainly the Supreme Court

Collins famously votes with Trump when it matters and is given permission to deviate for theatrical purposes when the margin is comfortable. She's never gonna be a John McCain casting the deciding vote against Trump. She's a Trump loyalist and an ineffective representative. Get her out.

Generally speaking, from what I can tell by looking at who was elected president, they aren't wrong. The GOP realized how stupid the average voter was and have stopped pretending.

I fear we, the voters of Maine, have not learned our lesson regarding Collins. I've seen all of this before, and she continues to get elected. I'll be voting for Jackson, and I remain hopeful, but I'd be lying if I said I was optimistic about this race. Please let me be wrong!

The thing that annoys me most about Susan Collins is that she has this vibe of "how dare you question my record of standing up for what's right", and yet has basically never stood up for what's right, when it mattered.

“At the very last minute, one of our Republicans CHANGED HIS MIND”😂 This is Susan Collins and Lisa Murkowski’s Method of Operation!!

She only ever votes No when she knows her vote doesn’t matter to the outcome. Her & Murkowski. If it was down to her single vote, she would vote for whatever MAGA wants, every time

She’s never really been that convincing, you’ve had to really want to believe her bullshit from the beginning to be able to pretend you could even jokingly buy it now… She’s tRump in a dress…

Remember when Collins voted - twice - to advance Betsy DeVos in committee but then on the Senate floor made a big show of voting against her confirmation? Maybe if the media had started reporting on Collins' duplicity decades ago we wouldn't be here today #MeSen #MePolitics
