The Trumps are traitors

It's only ever been about the money for Trump & his cronies. And to enrich themselves, they facilitate the killing of Ukrainians. None of this is to the good of Americans either, whether they will understand that, I don't know. Let's see what Congress does now. (Nothing, I suspect.)

He's not *entirely* wrong. In the Russian mind, it IS about one region: a region of Russia. Those pesky Ukrainians have just stopped them from colonising all of the territory.

⚡️️️️️️️Rubio reveals theory on Russia's war against Ukraine ahead of next US peace push. "People keep talking about it's a war in Ukraine. ... It's about one region of the country," U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said.

So very indicative of the contempt the Kremlin has for Trump & the US & their belief (likely justified) that Trump will never turn against them. Also, some very typical discursive mirroring from Russia here, vis-à-vis US-Iran & Russia-Ukraine.

Euronews@euronews.com

Just hours after Trump publicly claimed Russia was doing “little” to help Iran, Moscow reaffirmed its full support for Tehran, with Foreign Minister Lavrov describing Iran's fight as a "just cause." #EuropeNews

Thoughtful, compelling thread in response to an initial comment. And I completely agree on the need to tell better stories.

This isn’t a revolt about oppression. It’s a denial of social responsibilities. Taxes pay for shared benefits. Homeowners have a stake in their communities having those benefits; both for themselves (fire departments nearby lower insurance costs) and for future sales.

1/ The Musk-Trump decision to degrade Ukraine's Starlink access as a pressure tactic is a disaster not just for the United States' reputation but for the entire US defence industry. Musk's action may end up burning the whole industry. ⬇️

Universities need to build far more thoughtfully designed cross-disciplinarity programmes. Every science degree should have compulsory courses from Social Sciences/Humanities, e.g. on ethics, morality, history, law. Universities are well placed to rise to the challenges of the times but do they?

This point about leverage is my best hope, along with the hope that more Europeans will realise the US is most definitely not on Europe's side.

Ian Bond@cerianbond.bsky.social

Zelenskyy is right. Let's hope Ukraine has a healthy stock of drones and cruise missiles to apply its own sanctions on Russian refining and exports. One benefit of Trump ending almost all aid to UA is that he no longer has much leverage in Kyiv to persuade it not to.

Donald Trump's Russian diesel "deal" has little to do with actual diesel or actual US market. The point of this brilliant Kremlin op is to use the WH as a disinfo tool for vilifying Ukraine: by falsely portraying Ukrainian long-range counterstrikes on Russia as "harmful" for the United States.

I appreciate the effort but this hinges on the idea all black & brown people in Europe came from somewhere else & don't belong. To where should I return? The RAF hospital I was born in because my dad was in the British army? Can half of me stay & the other half go to my mother's country of birth?
