DBZ Movie Remake (pass), Full Clearing Another World under a Goddess with- (title's too long, pass), Magical★Explorer (pass), As a Reincarnated Aristocrat, I’ll Use My Appraisal Skill to-(PASS). Like holy shit, I feel bad for people who don't explore older stuff. Shit's bleak.

Physical media isn’t the answer. Digital piracy is.

Fun reminder - in two weeks Sony is going to delist 500+ digital movies. If you bought one, they’re going to vanish from your library too. Oh, and no refunds, you didn’t actually own them in the first place www.pushsquare.com/news/2026/06...

Rightwing influencers are so bad at interpreting source material that they can only do it correctly by accident, when they're trying to make a joke

The impulse to say that erotica CAN'T say anything of value, that porn MUST be mindless indulgence, is an extension of this problem by the way. Sex and kink are just parts of life. Art that explores both primarily can touch on other subjects meaningfully as well. Stop trying to silo everything.

The desexualisation of media (everyone is beautiful, and no one is horny) combined with an increasing hysteria around the 'pointlessness' of sex scenes is a key part of the fascistization of western culture and if we're going to fight back we're going to need to make it normal to be horny again.

Photo of the Day. Credit to Palestinian photographer, Saeed Jaras. Posting this here because hardly any mainstream media outlets will publish it. An ongoing genocide silenced. #Gaza

A world historical crime, taking place in full view, with the perpetrators so convinced of their impunity that they can brag about genocidal intent, and it’s hard not to agree with their calculation that no one will stop them and no one will be held accountable

Hate hate hate the reduction of Ghibli's output into a vague aesthetic. Even before generative AI, people would talk about "cozy Ghibli vibes" stripped of all context, and now we're seeing where that gets us.

I looked into this while I was at CPM. The production is credited to "Brown Eyes", which was likely to have been an indie musician from London that Andy Frain knew. (Remember, Manga Video was hatched from Island Records.) The music was very popular and lots of people requested a CD. Buuuut...

One of my anime white whales is to try to find a high quality master recording of the English version of the Tank Police intro, or to figure out who sang it, because it's one of the rare cases where it's better than the original. Incredible 90s house track.

I like Dancouga's characters, music, art work, mecha... everything but the actual story, which seems to have been something they worried about as sort of an afterthought

There isn't a proper "Hell" in Judaism, which I think is an extremely positive feature of the religion. But also, man do I spend a lot of time these days thinking "I wish hell existed"

Jeff Bezos never wanted this cartoon to become public. He killed it, and as a result, pulitzer prize editorial cartoonist Ann Telnaes quit. Make sure everyone sees this cartoon.

So much to unpack in one picture! Not least is the vignette of what looks like the lovechild of Ming the Merciless and Count Dracula.

I would have thought that others did the same but...zilch. At least in 90% of cases. I know most of us don't want to look back at the versions of ourselves that existed in our twenties...but still, most of those other podcasts are lost forever.
