I keep seeing South Asian folks making grand gestures of disclaiming Ramaswamy, as with Haley or Jindal. The thing to understand is, NONE of these candidates have ever, in any race, won a majority of the South Asian vote in any jurisdiction where they were running. They are products of white voters.

big era for buying companies full of people who are good at making things together, destroying their ability to do that, and then shutting them down

top 6 albums of 2026 (women of country, and women of country-adjacent continue to churn out the best shit you haven't heard yet)

anyone that can survey the current world and use "protest vote or purity politics" in an unironic way here is basically someone that you should never listen to. disqualifying. wouldn't even trust this dude's food recommendations.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Look at the shabby state and increasingly authoritarian trajectory of the country and ask yourself if we can endure 2 more years of a lawless Trump administration wreaking havoc with no check from Congress, then vote accordingly. This is not the time for a protest vote or purity politics.

Never forget that David Ellison's Skydance Media was originally created so he could be an actor. Skydance's first film was 'Flyboys' starring James Franco and... David Ellison. David and his daddy invested $60m to make Flyboys. It grossed $17m Here's a bit of David's acting:

this might not jive fully with the spirit of the question (because it is not an action movie) but Nic Cage being chased in Raising Arizona is up there for me

the rationalists have never had a real answer to feminism

Replying to @ponder.ooo

this is because despite whatever faults you might find in some particular "wave" of feminism or however *annoying* or *cringe* you might find some feminists, the core of feminism is correct and feminist thought provides tools which make one's understanding of the world clearer and more accurate

One of the main things to know about what's left of the media, and media for decades in general, is that no editor is going to assign a story that doesn't feel new and fresh. "5 Losers Are Doing Something Weird on the Computer" is a slam dunk. "Most People Still Suffering Routinely"? Yawn.

this guy would've nuked the sun in the '90s about tattoos in the workplace

I’m sorry, but if you bring an iced coffee - or any damn beverage at all - to a job interview, you’re disqualified. It’s not hard, people.

As a librarian who used to do acquisitions, I can assure you that NO library buys obscure books in bulk; it would be a complete waste of precious funds. Any bulk buyer which tells you it is buying for libraries is lying to you.

The Blackhawks blog “Cheer the Anthem” was threatened by ISIS on twitter because they were mistaken for a patriotic blog

lauren@lauren.rotatingsandwiches.com

someone really needs to collect every team fandom's most insane twitter stories because i bet a lot of them are jaw dropping like this

it's kind of striking how the discourse about Ella Langley's hit song is almost entirely around "i've never heard that song" and other more sarcastic thoughts, and not anything to do with why these thoughts can stick so much easier when it's a female singer. (and a country singer to boot.)

country music industry is already stacked against you if you're a woman, especially if you're a woman that doesn't conjure up images of Maxim Magazine. and even with her success, there's still a catch and a trap being built by men to diminish the success. we refuse to grow up still, basically.

if Ella Langley were born Curtson Benedict and looked like every other slapdick country man, we'd be hearing about his success and unprecedented fame nearly constantly. but she's a woman and a country singer, so we have to go into dumb mode over this.

But that feeling of a shared bond among all Americans in the early weeks after the attack is something I’m so glad I got to experience. Because it’s the thing that I think we’re missing the most today.

they used to say the same thing about NRA too. you could’ve learned from that by now.
