Importantly, pro-life groups and activists did not tell people not to vote for Republicans or hope that Democrats win in close races when Republicans hedged on abortion. They all played good foot soldiers and didn't claim they (or "dead babies") were being "thrown under the bus."

LBJ Again@50megatonfbomb.bsky.social

Abortion is illegal in multiple states because every republican appointed justice lied about how they would vote.

Not that it's the point of this to inform but none of these people really know how elections work

While I have election night plans already, I would have a hard time missing this all star cast.

The World Series starts today. The AL's best team vs the NL's best team. Two fanbases that have never won before. The style of play everyone claims they are desperate to see. This is going to rock.

Like, I wish just once someone would spell out the mechanics of how this works. Are they hiding the surgical theaters in the teacher's lounge? Is the school nurse handing out hormone therapy to anyone that asks for it?

Trump: "Turek voted to allow schools to turn your kids transgender without informing the parents" (This never happens)

They shouldn’t release Discourse Movies in October, there’s just too much going on. If you’re a parent especially there’s no way to carve out 3 hours in a theater on short notice.

Extremely toxic when football media holds up guys playing through major injuries or illnesses as alpha warriors or whatever. I guess that's football though.

What we really shouldn’t be doing is turning this into a “Jalen Hurts is so tough” story

It is an image from Twin Peaks the Return (legacy sequel series for Twin Peaks). The image is from an alternate reality/space in which some characters are different forms. I think this one is a character played by David Bowie (very briefly) that became a teapot.

The Trump Administration has stressed that she is only in the job on an interim basis, but I feel like Other Mommy From The Film "Other Mommy" has all the tools to become a very good White House Press Secretary.

Gonna stay up for the 9th, not often a team that hasn’t made it to the World Series since I was an infant has a chance of getting back there. Don’t let me down, Milwaukee!

How...uh...new to the planet do you have to be to think that books are harder to find than they used to be?

Correct, nobody does this because that would obviously be fucking stupid

I have to say, I don't get Adam Sandler at all. I don't understand what makes him funny to people. I laugh very easily, but I don't laugh at him. (2001)

I just finished reading The Ox-Bow Incident, a short, extremely bleak western that won the fiction Pulitzer in 1940. If you are looking for a piece of work that shows how deep the roots of American mob mentality and our taste for authoritarianism go, I don't think you could do much better. >

Consumers are *really* bad at expressing their economic well-being, it's basically just whatever pump prices are. Which is why maximizing EV share of the vehicle fleet is so important for breaking the carbon political economy in the US. Any other solution is doomed.

David Brooks is like Dead and Co. It's nice he's still doing it, and the stuff even sounds like it always did, but even his fans know he's irelevant.

"Jon Ossoff, my advice to him is, if you start calling your political opponents Nazis, maybe it's time to shut up. That's just not what we do here in this country." -- David Brooks, this evening. Remember, Brooks still gets very handsomely rewarded by the fossilized media for saying shit like this

I posted a joke the other day about how my kid wanted a Mickey song that didn't exist, and a bunch of people were like "just AI to make it." I understand needing to please a toddler, but man--that's just not how I want him to think about music at all. It's not a vending machine.

this is the ultimate end point of capitalism, ai will completely atomize everyone and there will be zero shared experiences. there will be no culture, only pure consumption. this must be resisted

Two massive goal line stands by the Eagles today. Not sure what Liam Coen is thinking on 4th and Goal from the 5. With the Eagles unable to move the ball all in the second half, kick that.

He doesn't believe this nonsense. I said it on the show this week -- the less you consume ESPN poison in its many forms, the happier you will be. (I worked there 8 years, it is very different now.) You'll be amazed how much better your experience with sports is if you excise ESPN where you can.

Trump in the Oval, alone, seeing this quote. He rubs his forehead. He goes to the window, stares out over the great city. Has he, in fact, betrayed the legacy of his late friend? The thought is too horrible to contemplate. "Heavy is the head," he thinks, quoting Henry IV Part II, his favorite play.

You cannot possibly look at Sissy Spacek’s performance in Carrie and not be wowed by the ways in which that movie gets you to care about her, to root for her, and to imagine against all reason that it might work out for her. If you don’t get that, you have simply lost the plot.

Impossible to understand how anyone could look at Rufo's career and conclude he was someone engaged in a "forthright defense of meritocracy." Rufo's entire career is built on the idea of purging people who don't think or look like him from positions of power.

Multiple plays in this game where the Rams bring a blitz, Jalen Hurts escapes it, and somehow no one is open for him to throw to ... leading to throwaways. How is no one open if the Rams are bringing extra defenders?
