Trump: "Make America Great Again. 2015, I thought of that expression. Somebody said, 'No, it was Reagan.' No no. That's 'Let's Make America Great.' There's a big difference. And he never used it too."

Kamala wouldn’t have tried to put her name on things, destroy a Rose Garden, Rip down the East Wing of the White House or cut down sacred 100+ year old Trees…..

reminder: the explicit USPS rule (*currently blocked in court*) is that USPS will not deliver *any and all* mail ballots to voters in states that refuse to provide the fed gov with lists (lists that, even if they wanted, states can't do in time at this point) not technicalities — mass non-delivery

Matt Novak@paleofuture.bsky.social

This is pretty fucking wild. I had assumed in a worst case scenario he would target blue zip codes and toss ballots based on technicalities but this is even worse than I imagined.

Imagine a president handed new refugees a goodie bag stuffed with progressive pamphlets...and a note telling them how to see America. The outrage would run for a month. Congressional hearings. Now imagine it's happening right now… from the other direction. It is. www.jackhopkinsnow.com

Detention centers are a business model. If undocumented immigrants aren’t enough to keep the beds full, the net just gets wider. First “illegals,” then visa holders, then naturalized & green cards holders Supply has to match the contracts. That’s how the system keeps itself fed.

So targeting elderly people who've worked and paid taxes for decades. *Shakes fist* It's almost like just when one thinks they can't get any crueler, this admin digs deep and finds a way.

Democrats should demand a clawback of ICE's remaining OBBB money before agreeing to supplemental Pentagon funding.

$2bn/day, with $2.8bn/day in munitions alone over the first two days. I tend to think of myself as a Large Number Scale Understander but this is just mind-boggling amounts of money.

So, in launching a huge bombing campaign on Iran they apparently didn't plan for: - Who takes over; - Interceptor shortages from sustained drone retaliation; - How to defend US bases in the region; - Threats to ships in the Strait of Hormuz; and - How to evacuate Americans with airspace closed.

Top 4 officials in the Criminal section of the Civil Rights Division resign over Harmeet Dhillon's inexcusable (and inexplicable, under the law and the mission of the Division) decision not even to investigate the Minnesota fatal shooting. This is the very purpose and heartbeat of the section

A House panel is holding a hearing on a proposed ban on Congressional stock trading. This ban is long overdue. Why should members of Congress be able to use privileged information to make money on the stock market, while they’re supposed to be working for you?

Did you know that over 1.3M active duty service members and veterans rely on SNAP benefits to feed themselves and their families? Now you know.

mwcones.bsky.social reposted

SNAP isn't about "people who don't work." It's about people who don't get paid enough to live. Of the 40 or so million people who rely on food stamps: * Two-thirds are children, seniors, or disabled * Most working-age adults who receive SNAP are employed—but in jobs that pay poverty wages

mwcones.bsky.social reposted

Whenever people complain about the number of folks relying on food stamps, it is worth reminding them that SNAP is, by too large of a degree, a subsidy for corporations that refuse to pay a living wage and their political allies who reject public policy prescriptions to reduce income inequality.

Thou shalt not support a man who bulldozes the White House to build himself a golden ballroom whilst the government is shut down because he doesn’t want the financial records tying him to Jeffrey Epstein to come out.

If men with guns and masks tried to pull me out of my car, I'd fight back. Courts should reject any claims by the government that this is aggression by the person being detained, resisting arrest, or that they're a flight risk.

The White House was controlling the teleprompter. The White House videographer triggered the escalator. But we're gonna hear about it anyway to distract from how weak and feckless this administration is.

Mail-in voting fraud is rare - and those who attempt to cheap the system are caught early. Voting by mail allows the sick and infirm to exercise their voting rights. It's a vital voting option for active duty military... And it's popular among politicians, inc. Trump: www.npr.org/2020/08/19/9...

npr.orgTrump, While Attacking Mail Voting, Casts Mail Ballot AgainHe voted by mail in Tuesday's Florida primaries but avoided the Postal Service, instead opting to give his ballot to a third party to turn in, a practice Republicans call "ballot harvesting."

While processes differ, state-to-state, mail-in voting is secure, with registration protocols at the front-end, ballot tracking for transparency and oversight, and ballot verification at the point of receipt. More than 30 nations use mail-in voting, inc. Canada, Switzerland, S. Korea, and the U.K.

Helluva @notusreports.bsky.social scoop showing that Trump has no idea what's in his budget bill. Seems like something that ought to get a lot more attention. Also this: a republican house member actually admits that they are attacking medicaid. Yes, they are. www.notus.org/congress/rec...
