Hey quick, of the two countries in question, which one is currently rolling back civil rights protections?

What is exactly is supposed to be the problem with building speculatively anyways. Oh no I think people are gonna wanna live here I'll build some houses. I'm such an asshole!!!

Remember the early days of Covid when people were speculating on N95 masks and hand sanitizer by buying up the scarce supply and selling it for inflated prices; but then we made so many masks and so much hand sanitizer that you could get them super cheap? We could do that for housing if we wanted.

Kamala Harris: I think that going in the direction of impeachment is not a good idea. I was in the Senate for the last go-round, and the votes aren’t there. I think after the election, we all have to just also agree that our attitude has to be to get stuff done…

There is truly nothing you could do to make fun of the NYT covering the Obama Cheesecake Factory quip instead of Trump being accused of rape. It’s completely beyond parody.

I hope you Charlotteans have fun seeing them! I'm not jealous at all!!!!!

China’s AI bubble has already burst. Its AI-heavy STAR50 index has fallen 40%, wiping out $480B. Some Chinese AI chip companies have lost half their value. Even after the crash, the index still trades at 100x earnings, down from nearly 250x. In comparison, the Nasdaq 100 trades at around 30x.

Saw people bemoan that racist RFK clip and suggest we shouldn’t amplify it. But far worse stuff lands in my Michigan mailbox daily. Can’t turn on my tv without being flooded with racism directed at people like me. My 3-year-old sees it. Pretending like it’s not happening won’t solve the problem.

US teenage boys have lost about a third of their daily outdoor time since 2010, from over 60 to under 40 minutes. Girls’ outdoor time stayed low - hence the gender gap has disappeared. Our new study is based on time-use data on 14,235 adolescents aged 15–19, 2003–2023. www.pnas.org/doi/10.1073/...

Just been such a revolution in my worldview to realise that people like Musk actually believe this, this isn't just the nonsense they feed the rubes so they can do coldly rational mercantile calculations in smokey rooms among themselves. No. It's rubes all the way down, they're that stupid.

i don't think we can come to a reasonable compromise with this

Thinking about information again. Day 1, the next president should should order a full inquiry to find out what happened to all the data DOGE touched and where it went. Two is ordering ICE/DHS to find all the data it collected from HHS, IRS, and other agencies, delete it, then rescind this EO:

For those curious about the hams, Beefcake (my enormous female Syrian hamster) is doing just fine and Odin (my one eyed male Syrian hamster) is just as addicted to his wheel as ever. Nothing new to report. Both are well. Yes Beef really is that big. She is not a rat.

I got this on audiobook and was a bit afraid it would be law clerk history, but it's very good. Treats each stage of racialization pretty thoroughly. One thing that became clear to me: More than anything else, libertarianism was a temporarily successful project of building a common ground between-
