Acabo de descubrir que puedes bloquear a EA, Ubisoft y quien quieras en Steam para que no te recomiende más sus mierdas. Ruedita de ajustes a la derecha, 'Ignorar a este creador'. Mano de santo 👌

even if you think it can code (and it can't) why on earth would you make this an integral part of your workflow before you know what it's actually going to cost you once the hyperscalers stop subsidizing your ass? deranged behavior

If you dislike AI please stop saying AI can code now. Just because it can generate code that works for some loose definition of the word works doesn't mean it can code because coding is so much more than that. Please, I'm begging you, you do not, under any circumstances, gotta hand it to them

I'm genuinely not excited for ports or homebrew projects anymore because I know its all just ai vibecoded slop now. Not only have recomps been tarnished with that crap, but everything else in the community as well, its just fucking everywhere & nobody wants to do anything about it cuz "muh rezultz".

Epic: "our new slopped up launcher starts up 5 seconds faster than Steam's, haha!!!" Imagine being so fucking braindead that you think *that's* the problem with your offering when compared to the rival that's had the monopoloy for more than a decade, and people will come flocking to your store now.

Richard B. Gray - LEVELORD 11/15/1957 - 10/12/2026 Just heard the news that an old friend of mine has passed on. Richard Gray - aka Levelord has departed the planet. I know he's dealt with cancer on and off for awhile now, a word that I cannot stand. Word comes from his wife Olga.

the "you can't avoid AI, it's in all software now" argument might be true for infrastructure, where we have limited agency over the platforms and systems that make up our society, but is hilariously untrue for video games, a completely optional and easily ignored part of all of our lives

The positive side of games using AI in their production and my stubborn unwillingness to play anything that has used AI in its production is that I’m saving a ton of money.

I think LLM’s are pretty close to blockchain where it‘s conceptually interesting and smart people think it should have immense utility but one by one every use-case erodes until the only thing left is crime and scams

I have the confidence in my cognitive abilities to write perfectly well enough without resorting to tools built from stealing the writing of others. So do you. We’ve all been doing this for a long time. Don’t let people whose wealth depends on making you feel incompetent convince you otherwise.

I was talking with friends recently about how pervasive capitalism is in the mindset of gaming specifically in the concept of how free fangames, level sets, etc love to describe their content in numbers, a thing commercial games do primarily to make a value proposition

Sometimes, when possible, its good to respond with practical advice when awful things try and take over so here's my attempt. 5 out of the 15 projects featured *aren't* AI-utilising. Those are: "SymphonyRecomp" "Banjo: Recompiled" "Fable II: Recompiled" "Condemned II: Recompiled" and "Dusklight"

as a guy who decided to go inside the system because being outside it struck me as rather personally perilous, it appears i did not factor in exactly how incompetent everyone making decisions inside the system would turn out to be

Yes, the internet, foss, society, and the climate got destroyed. But for a beautiful moment in time we didn't even create a lot of value for shareholders because AI was never actually profitable.

"Nintendo Adult" - arrested development, stunted social skills, narc and a patsy "SEGA Adult" - smokey, suave, does crimes but only cool ones like illegal downloading and drugs

The entertainment industry has hit rock bottom. Nothing remains of a semblance of gratitude, or even retaining competent people and a team's experience. There is only short-term savings, while these companies are making massive profits. No wonder they're all crazy about AI.

When a game studio ships a solid game, it creates TWO valuable products: 1. A solid game. 2. The team that spent years learning how to work together make a game. Because Western studios keep disbanding #2 while development cycles get longer; we will inevitably see less of #1.

Kala Paint is out! I'm @olawson.bsky.social , professional artist for 15 years, then game dev, now wrote the painting software I wish I'd been using all this time. GPU-run creamy brushes, no subscription, no gen AI crap, hand-coded with ideas from artists in our Discord, and more added weekly!

The Onion has created a machine that will kill everyone on Earth that is coincidentally running out of money and the only way to slow it down is if my staff and I take a six-week vacation to Cabo San Lucas.

I mean this is the problem, isn't it? The technology is harmful and is already producing harmful outcomes; its mass deployment is collectively negative even if individuals perceive a localized benefit. There's no "plan" to get around the harms without giving up the supposed benefits.

Btw, even among pro AI friends, this concern is ALL OVER THE PLACE. Devs wondering how we get senior devs if the ecosystem for junior devs goes away. Doctors talking about not needing interns. Lawyers not needing paralegals. There's an ecological aspect to this and we need a plan.

anybody doing a decomp desperately needs to make "no AI" a front facing part of their marketing, not only is it a selling point, it's just plain convenient in the sea of vibe coded garbage

If you have a Gmail account, you need to read this. Google's AI now scans your emails and attachments, bank statements, tax files, medical letters, all of it. It turned on by default, and there's a class-action lawsuit over how. Here are 5 moves to shut it off, the switch is hidden in two places:
