I think it is important to say about this, that from all the data we have on long covid, that if these people have covid (currently high in the US) around 10% of these people are going to walk away with a chronic, possibly permanent disability, and that should not be an acceptable number to anyone.

There’s literally a memo from 1995(?) about how the right was weaponizing the internet, pushing conspiracy bullshit on blogs and then using tabloids and right-wing media to stir up controversy that ends up splashed across the pages of legacy papers.

David Roberts@volts.wtf

This has been the fundamental mechanism through which political media operates my entire life. The right makes a bunch of noise about a fake scandal, the mainstream media "covers the controversy," & normie voters get the vague impression that Dems are constantly involved in scandal.

Ahhh, the US once again proving itself to be a corporate guard dog. Pretty shameless of our govt to roll on its belly begging for tummy rubs every time a corporate overload shows up at the WH.

A review on how I finally caught a respiratory infection. On Sept 28th, I had a memmogram. On Sept 29th, I had a brief hardware removal surgery that led to me being intubated & back on oxygen for a few hours post. Intubation led to a lot of coughing & some cardiac instability.

I was his only patient that hadn't been sick w a respiratory infection for 5 years & 10 months. Finally felled. Thankfully, he's pretty sure it's just a rhinovirus (common cold). Super mild bc I had already initiated saline rinses. I am kicking its ass. However...HOWEVER... I didn't need this.

I just had surgery & respiratory depression again. I was intubated. I'd already been coughing a lot due to the irritation of that. I was doing well at the ER only to now be struggling from something new. Such a caring & empathetic staff but could they bother to mask to help assure my recovery?

My chest pain was simply my rib cage becoming inflamed from the post-intubation coughing. ER doc echoes the rest of the staff about having so much medical stuff going on. Staff was super nice, celebrating the mammogram & us results w me, wishing me good health. Nicest ER team BUT only the doc masked

Had my PCP appt yesterday where I had to report illness. Not too terrible but feeling like a torch was going from my nostrils to my eyes. My vitals? 98/47 w a blood oxygen of 96%. My PCP asks me to hold my breath while he checks my nose. The world swims & I'm dizzy. It clears. He's sad.

Throat was irritated from the intubation & I'd been at a hospital for a good chunk of the day. I needed that water. Everything comes back okay. ER doc comes in. He's masked. Thanks me for coming in, explains why I was sent there. Except for a few blips, my vitals are perfect.

100/70 blood pressure, 99-100% blood oxygen, 64 pulse, respiration of 16. I won the perfect ideal vitals prize of the day. They were checking for a post-op heart attack or cardiac embolism. Other than a few blips though that they'd expect for me, I'm doing great.

I was called back in for a 2nd mammogram & ultrasound on Oct 8th. Clear, yay! I got to go home but had to set up an appt w my doc for chest pain as soon as I get home. I do that & doc's office calls to tell me to go back to the hospital (ER) to get my heart & lungs checked. Same hospital for all.

I'm given an initial EKG & put on the vital signs monitor w an ECG going. I'm hooked up for an IV, blood tests, & scooted off for an X-ray. By the time the doc comes in, I've been treated by 5 staff members. None were masked. I was masked until they brought in water for me to sip.

Very revealing moment for the press here. The unstated premise of this question is they cannot understand how Democrats are different from Republicans. That Democrats are capable of abstract, critical thought, and Republicans just use their mouths to reflexively echo.

This was such a great answer from Abdul El-Sayed about his previous criticisms of President Obama.

5 years and 10 months avoiding getting sick at all. Sick after having surgery, a couple scans, and the ER. Doc says that I'm actually doing well in battling it. I've been using the Navage and Astepro so there's not a whole lot to swab and test so doc skipped it.

@trimet.org Since when is racial profiling passengers part of your repertoire or do you have a rogue employee acting out of line? My daughter rode the MAX Red Line this evening after leaving campus at PSU. One of your employees boarded & proceeded to check every POC's fare EXCEPT for the white men.

He also stopped & demanded an ID without discernible cause from a younger male passenger who produced a minor driver's license. The young man wasn't doing anything wrong. He'd already produced ticket. He was apparently polite. After your employee left, the white men called out what just happened.

Racial profiling is unacceptable. Period. Your employee decided to judge that any person of color were potentially skipping paying the fare. He skipped the white men. My daughter is half Nat Am & she will be contacting you.
