It’s odd when people use ‘woke’ as an insult. It means kind. It means caring. It means thoughtful. It means considerate. If someone has a problem with those things then.. well… I feel sorry for them. But I guess that’s just me being woke.

I’d kinda hoped that with the new guys in Downing Street the budget wouldn’t be leaked / teased / pre-announced this year. But it seems worse than ever! I don’t think @commonsspeaker.parliament.uk is going to be happy about that. What’s the point of parliament with stuff like this happening?

Using the web view my feed keeps jumping to the top when I try to scroll down. Has someone been trying out vibe coding?

So depressing that I still get asked for contributions to education projects & similar things, and when I dig into the funding source, it turns out to be an oil company. Greenwashing. I *always* dig, and they do their best to hide. NO. Never work with anyone unless you know their funding source.

The thing that’ll do for Zak Polanski isn’t his tit-wrangling past or his current Zionism difficulties. It’s his voice. No gravitas, no personality, no authority. Just listen to him in a radio interview. It’s always going to set a limit on the Green vote while he’s in charge.

Another in a long line of examples showing that AI doesn’t provide answers, it only provides what an answer might look like. (I didn’t deliberately seek out AI, Google offered it up so I thought I’d test it).

Microsoft 365 Family moving from 1TB per user (so 6TB total) to 2TB shared, on next renewal. I guess these data centres need everything they can get…

Andy Burnham says there was Russian interference in the Brexit vote, but Nigel Farage has called him a liar, so now, gosh, I don't know who to believe.

@london.gov.uk I'm a big fan of your work as mayor and your support for London's diverse community, so I'm *hugely* disappointed to see someone as divisive as J K Rowling being chosen to do the Christmas lights in London. how can it be appropriate to have someone preaching & funding trans hatred?

Many different nations like to claim that it was one of their lot that invented TV. But it was actually invented over a series of steps by people from several countries.

Paul Ockenden@ockenden.com

But who invented TV? Dexpends where your loyalties lie. 1884 Nipkow (German): Scanning disc. 1907 Rosing (Russian): Scanner plus CRT. 1926 Logie Baird (Scot): Scanner plus CRT, moving images. 1927 Farnsworth (American): First fully electronic. 1929 Zworykin (US Russian): Closest to ‘proper’ TV.

The whole thing about Silver < Gold < Platinum amuses me. From credit cards to my local car wash things are always tiered like this. Yet for over a decade now gold has been more valuable than platinum. Is someone going to tell the credit card companies. Don't worry, I'll tell the car wash.

What a complete and utter shit-stirring twat this bloke is. My contempt for him knows no bounds.

Farage posted this at 12.38 today. It has been hopelessly overtaken by events and shown to be entirely wrong (British nationals involved and they've been released on bail - not very terrorist-like). And if you believe anything Trump says, you are a credulous moron.

This should be the moment people finally realise that Farage has turned them into fascists. If you’re choosing this dangerous inhumanity over the rescue work of the RNLI, you’ve lost your minds to racism and hatred.

Also “it escaped from a sandbox” is bollocks. A real sandbox is air-gapped. Escape-proof. What it ‘escaped’ from was a badly configured dev or test environment. Yet the AI spivs keep pushing the escape from a sandbox story, and news outlets like the BBC just print with verbatim without question.

applying "Make ___ Great Again" to Germany really does kinda give the game away

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Trump: “Wow! The Populist Party in Germany just had a really big night. They finally got tired of the absolutely horrible Immigration rules and regulations which have hurt Germany so badly. THEY ARE ON THE RISE, and not going to take it anymore! MGGA!!! President DJT”

That last line. So important.

Merriam-Webster@merriam-webster.com

macabre = “muh-KAHB” Worcestershire = “WOOSS-ter-sheer” omnipotent = “ahm-NI-puh-tunt” reticent = “RET-uh-sunt” epitome = “ih-PIT-uh-mee” myriad = "MEER-ee-ud" Never make fun of someone if they mispronounce a word. It means they learned it by reading.

Their ‘dive’ manoeuvres seem to model real footballers perfectly.

I live in Shoreham-by-Sea where the tragic drowning happened yesterday. Local social media has been dripping in ‘thoughts and prayers’. I’m just waiting for the sudden switch now it’s been revealed that the family were refugees. It’s horrible - really fucking horrible - but I know it will happen.
