My debut novel THE RESTORATION launches today! It’s 2176. America is once again a set of colonies under British rule, and a second revolution is about to kick off on the Fourth of July. Available now on Kindle and paperback! Audiobook soon. #BookSky #BookBirthday #Debut mybook.to/TheRestorati...

“It’s a murder mystery, spy craft, science fiction, post-apocalyptic wonder.” “THE RESTORATION is everything you know as life today, everything you remember from American history, and your worst fears for the future, rolled into one.”

“Like the best speculative fiction, THE RESTORATION uses an imagined future to challenge assumptions about the present.” “If you worry about where technology and politics are heading, this book comes at those fears from an angle you won’t expect.”

the reason “AI will create so much abundance we will have a utopian society” rhetoric falls so flat is that the people building it will never, ever share their bounty unless it is taken from them and we all know it

Lanterns S1 stuck the landing but I'm not really sure I want to watch S2 without [REDACTED] being in it somehow. If there is a S2 (hasn't been erm greenlit yet)...

good example of how bad faith the right are. it’s just pointless to engage with them.

Tucker: “I never understood why 🇬🇧 fought World War 2?” 😕 Rees-Mogg: “It was good vs. evil…We did the right thing…” Tucker: “Has 🇬🇧 benefitted?” RM: “We defeated Hitler… We’d all be speaking German…” Tucker: “Who cares?” 🤔

Me: Can someone explain SlutCon to me—wait never mind can someone strike me on the back of my head hard enough so I forget I ever heard that term

SNW S4 had (generously) five watchable episodes out of ten. ("Tomorrow's Enterprise", "Orders of Magnitude", "Off-Hour", "Like Chronitons Through the Hourglass" and "Valles Marineris")

Please know that this is one of my few legitimate areas of actual, high-level professional expertise: Kicking the healthiest people off of a health insurance program will bankrupt it. Not 'could;' not 'might,' not 'probably," but absolutely will, with mathematical certainty.

Dr Oz says the Trump administration will kick more than a million people off health insurance because some of them have "never filed a claim"

We're only a few weeks from the launch of THE RESTORATION, my John Adams meets The Man in The High Castle meets Person of Interest scifi novel drops. Audiobook is being recorded, ebook is done, and the first proof of the paperback is at the printer. Get sample chapters or pre-order: dsduffy.com

I truly, deeply, sincerely do think the guy flipping burgers at McDonalds should be able to afford rent, bills, and groceries with his paycheck alone. That's kind of the whole point of having a job and I can't believe this is considered a radical position.🤷🏽‍♀️

NEWS: The Pentagon has announced mandatory low-testosterone screenings for male troops 30 and older, including screening for symptoms such as “reduced libido, loss of spontaneous morning erections, erectile dysfunction,” and other symptoms.

60 years ago today, Star Trek asked us to imagine humanity becoming something better. Not perfect. Better. More curious. More compassionate. More willing to seek understanding instead of fear difference. Six decades later, I'm still happily along for the ride. 🖖 #StarTrekDay

Pearson Education (aka New Riders) is taking 88% and 90% of my Anthropic settlement money for Designing for Interaction. O'Reilly is taking 50% for Microinteractions and Designing Gestural Interfaces. So for four books, instead of $12,000, I will get $3660.

The New York Times@nytimes.com

As thousands of authors wait for their cut of the largest copyright settlement in U.S. history from Anthropic, the tech giant that used pirated books to train its A.I. chatbot, some are accusing the publishers of their books of trying to squeeze them out of a percentage of the payout.

I do think “every rich person went insane during covid because it was the first time they’ve been inconvenienced in decades” felt a little reductive at first but damn if isn’t more and more compelling as the years drag on

We've lost journalist Gloria Steinem. She once infiltrated the Playboy club as a bunny and exposed their unfair working conditions. When DC took Wonder Woman's powers and costume away, she wrote an article to shamed them into restoring the character. RIP Legend

I've heard of two of these people, and only because they are/were involved in political controversies #old #outoftouch #usinghashtagsbecauseoldandoutoftouch

it’s that time of year again, Rolling Stone released their list of the top 25 content creators, which is actually a test of how old and out of touch you are… the lower your score, the more out of touch i’ve heard of 11 out of 25

Paid political influencers are highly effective propagandists. Which is why Pete Hegseth is paying them to manipulate other Americans in state-funded, prev undisclosed influence ops. Gift link: wapo.st/4x0p3pf

I think another lesson to take from the loss of both Dolly and Tim Curry is that neither of them took themselves seriously but they took the work dead serious that's the most important thing pour all of yourself into the craft but have fun and don't get an ego.
