The Long Dark is a life experience. It's finding moments of calm and beauty despite difficult times. It's focusing on the next best step to survive. Whilst real life is overwhelming, in game you focus on your next imperative and it's almost meditative. It's finding your why, and playing it your way.

If you're looking for an amazing game with a hauntingly beautiful world to get lost in, grab The Long Dark while it's on offer. It's vast & gorgeous & punishing in the way only the best games are - when you get into trouble (which you will, a LOT), you'll only have yourself to blame. Also... 1/

I just published the Steam page for my upcoming DRPG: Häxeri! The game is inspired by Etrian Odyssey, Shin Megami Tensei and Wizardry. I've been working on this for nearly two years (being a parent of two is rough...), so I'm really happy to finally reach this point. #gamedev #indiedev #drpg

30 June 2025 marks 10 years of 'semi retirement' and I'm left wondering how the time could pass so quickly. Anyway, here are some highlights (I'll leave the lowlights alone) & some of the good stuff from the 34 years in post that led to it. 🧵 It started with dip pens & ended with smiles.

The game industry has become significantly worse as the folks who make the games have lost power to folks who run big businesses and know finance but don't know anything about making games. My hope for the future of the industry, once we climb out of the current hell, is that we fix this.

For years we have been overwhelmed by the volume of code contributions we have to review, especially from new contributors. AI has made the problem much worse. That's why we are taking steps to reduce the burden on maintainers while still welcoming new contributors: godotengine.org/article/cont...

I made this post as a coping joke but today in Nantes and Bordeaux in France it was hotter than it was in the Sahara desert, on the same day What is our government doing ? Pushing for data centers, cutting funding for climate resilience infrastructure and cutting out our environmental regulations

Sinclair BASIC had no ELSE statement. Every IF-THEN was a leap of faith with no safety net. If the condition was false, you fell through to the next line and hoped for the best. This was also Sir Clive's approach to product launches.
