Guess I should introduce myself, so hello, I'm Eli! I don't really know how I'm gonna use this place (feeling so disillusioned with throwing myself at socmed in general) but this at least feels a lot friendlier and more like how things used to work. I hope it stays like this for a while.

AI is conscious AND it is my girlfriend AND it is my slave. A perfect scenario for me, a normal person. Not gonna think too deeply about this. Now do all other living human people deserve the level of investment devoted to my Tamogotchi slave girlfriend? Not so fast.

EA's closure of BioWare is transparently a vile move to shutter the studio that made by far their queerest titles. In the wake of this, I implore you: MAKE MORE QUEER ART. Make it trans. Make it horny. Make it scary. Make it loving. Make it with every inch of yourself. Flood the world with it!

BioWare closing rings the same hollow bell in my soul as WB and Paramount becoming “Skydance.” Across movies, TV, publishing, games, we’re watching decades of legacy and history being hijacked and fed to the furnace of an abyssal engine with no desire beyond the abstract concept of “More.”

I'm bummed because I was really looking forward to it (GGC is one of my favorite events), and I also only had one other show this year. At the same time, I also felt a bit relieved - focus has been hard to come by and I hadn't gotten the things I was working on done on time (2/3)

It's not enough to be against AI, you need to be pro art. You need to be a champion of the art you love, you need to share that passion and joy, and do what you can to support the artists who make it, because it's not enough to hate AI, to hate what it's doing to art and media; you gotta love.

What happens if a creator streams your game and is opted in? Does Twitch think it has the right to feed a developer's game into its AI slop factory? This has deeper ramifications than it seems on the surface.

Zach Bussey 🍁@zachbussey.tos.gg

Twitch now uses your channel to train generative AI by default. You can opt out of some training here: www.twitch.tv/settings/sec...

Think of how many potential Nanamis we lose every season due to the current state of production. The industry needs to change. Do It For Her.

been watching early utena. it's true: if TV anime seasons were longer today, they'd all have room for more nanami episodes. this would obviously be a positive

We've been in the ripping-the-copper-wiring-out-of-the-walls era of society for awhile now. There's no attempts to make anything better. There's no attempts to make anything people want. It's just syphoning gas out of cars and burying people in gambling debt from rigged betting markets.

Why is everything so transparently evil now?

Turns out that food companies were only checking their food because the government told them to, which is exactly why we need government regulations.

is your hobby even a real hobby if the community spaces for it aren’t currently clogged with guys trying to convince you to try the new app they “vibe coded” to introduce a completely pointless and broken digital workflow to your hobby?

I know this is not the biggest concern going these days, but it stresses me out that basically every artist/writer/critic is now expected to create their own tiny empire instead of getting paid by any existing entity to perform a job they've worked to get good at!!!!

There's a video game coming out which used generative AI to make assets but is also "protected by Denuvo" which is just such a perfect encapsulation of how intellectual property law works and who it is for

We have an incredible problem: too many donations for our mutual aid hub and not enough shelves! We’ve outgrown our current setup, and we need to adapt to keep up with need, especially as we help candidates across the country adopt this model.

So much of the pandemic was us finding out life actually could be easier and better and more accessible, and then watching them peel every scrap of that back out of our hands & lives, often for incoherent reasons. (return to office!)

all else aside, I think this was the start of a shift for a lot of people- realizing their government was absolutely capable of helping them, but actively choosing not to

You know what? I forgive him, instantly & completely. It sucks that he did that, but I have literally nothing else against Jorge besides this one ai decision, and now that he's reversed it I'm left with nothing but a faint sense of "did you really think that was going to go any other way?"

Earth Day reminder that Trump’s EPA rolled back regulations governing clean air, water, wildlife, and toxic chemicals. He’s pushed to open public lands to drilling and mining. And he’s gutted clean energy programs while promoting dirty fossil fuels. He’s a danger to our planet and our health.
