I'm currently looking for full-time or contract work. I specialize in building CSS-based design systems where engineers don't have to write CSS and helping product teams develop a shared language for building on the web. If you know of anything that might be a fit, please let me know. Thanks!

building a new website and I'm enjoying taking a content-first approach to building. at first, write as little CSS as possible; rely on browser defaults for almost everything. focus on the content. only move onto styling once you have a site that is semantic, accessible, and performant.

Just rolled credits on BIG WALK with a group of friends and wow. What started as a silly puzzle game becomes something else completely by the end. A profound and kind of emotional journey. One of my favorite gaming experiences ever.

I think the thing the "but AI can one-shot it bro" commenters on these videos don't get, is while I am showing how to do something with CSS, it goes a little beyond that. I'm exploring what's possible these days, and often looking at how we can make things that aren't so straight-forward.

Vale@vale.rocks

The amount of comments on @kevinpowell.co's recent videos saying 'CSS is dead', or 'Surely Claude can just do it', or 'Opus could one-shot it', or other permutations of the same thing is so disappointing. His GTA VI video is great. Worth a watch: www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fi1M...

Why AI is exposing design’s craft crisis. Sometimes you read something that feels like a punch in the guts, yet, you keep nodding. Here we are. This: “We told ourselves AI would level the playing field.

cool. but now I want an apology from all my enemies and everyone who said I was too "front-end" and not enough "full-stack".

We'll quickly regret defunding and losing those who read the specs, learn, explore, measure, weigh, and share their hard-won experience. When the answer to every question is "I asked Claude and clicked approve" we yield actual answers to probabilities and will always be left asking, "Are you sure?"

Learning this the hard way lately: “Adding insult to injury, the respective communities alienate interdisciplinary people who do not fit into their narrow conception of the field. For example, either you are considered as too “technical” for a “creative” job or too “creative” for “technical” job.”

This is why my design systems are centered on CSS, which has evolved but hasn’t been replaced in 30 years. Our design tools and frontend frameworks change every few years, but with a solid, bespoke CSS framework supporting your system, devs don’t even have to write CSS and it works with any stack.

Watched the @syntax.fm episode on how everyone's moving from Tailwind to StyleX and while I'm sure it's great, but it dawned on me that I haven't had "How do I write styles without scoping issues!?!?" problems in a long time. In #webcomponents, you write CSS. www.youtube.com/watch?v=NIG9...
