People still talk about the foreign policy of the Trump administration as if (a) it's designed to advance US national interests, rather than private ones and (b) there's a reasonable expectation of competence and coherence. Neither of these things is correct.

"After a series of lies and deflection, Trump still denied having any part in the restriction of Starshield. Joseph Starlink changed his story and said Starlink was restricted because the terms of service were violated. That is another lie, since drones were never on Starlink,

Whenever Russia's invasion of Ukraine is in serious trouble, Elon Musk is called upon to lend a helping hand. In 2022, Russia needed Musk's help to stop Ukraine from liberating more territory. This month, Russia needed Musk to clear the path for jet drones to kill more civilians.

The explanation that Starlink must not be used for "offensive" means is nonsense, too. Starlink has never been turned on over Russia, and using it in Ukraine is by definition defensive in nature.

❗️Vanity Fair reports that Dutch military intelligence allegedly hacked Jared Kushner's iPhone in 2018 and monitored his access to a UAE bank account holding hundreds of millions of dollars. Kushner denies the allegations. #USA

The US government is now asking Elon Musk to restore the access they say was never removed, Elon says was shut down by the US government, and both briefly tried to pretend was down due to a technical glitch, in between darkly hinting Ukrainians deserve to die for being stubborn or ungrateful.

Denmark has decided to procure Anthem missiles from the US-Israeli company Covenant, owned among others by Peter Thiel and Marc Andreessen. The rationale is probably quick delivery, but it misses the point that control with the production line may be more important than the missiles in stock.

Sweden also doubled-down on going American with their recent HIMARs acquisition from what I saw. I do wonder if Scandinavia isn't still more than a bit naive when it comes to relying on US owned productions.

"For a rough idea of the numbers, the recent €15.6bn budget for the IRIS² constellation suggests an all-in cost per satellite of more than €40mn. Elon Musk’s most recent version of Starlink comes to $1.3mn on New Street numbers and provides a multiple of the capacity to boot."

Things in the EU are coming to a severe end soon, if just a few more member states fall to the far right and the next EP elections go to the far right, then the EU will be dust. People should question if a continental Brexit is what they want? If a return to squabbling nations is what they want.

Putin has never said that he will agree to a peace agreement if he gets the rest of Donbas. What Putin has said is that if Ukraine gives him he get the rest of Donbas, then he will be willing to begin negotiations about the rest of Russia's conditions for peace.

Rubio has lost his mind: The war in Ukraine is about one region, Donetsk. russia occupies all but about 11% of it.

In July, Russia launched over 8,300 glide bombs at Ukrainian positions and cities. On July 3rd, Yevhen Ovcharov was a career police officer deployed somewhere on the eastern front when he noticed on his live military app that one bomb was moving towards his hometown of Sumy. It was 9:45 pm and

he called his wife, Nataliia Ovacharova, who answered right away. She told him not to worry. She was with their two girls and they were walking back from the park. 5-year-old Milana was next to her and Veronika, 13, was slightly behind with Aliona, a friend. And then, mid-conversation, the call

If we want the European Union to be effective, we need to get rid of the national veto and move to some form of majority voting. The "qualified majority voting" (art. 16, TEU) makes a lot of sense: 1. Majority of countries: 55% (at least 15 countries) AND 2. Majority of population: 65% For very

sensitive issues, the "Reinforced qualified majority" could be used: 1. Majority of countries: 72% AND 2. majority of population: 65% But we have to get rid of unanimity and blocking veto. This will require a new treaty (which is really needed) and likely a "Multispeed EU"

The goal could be to break Europe politically short of a full war, notably by ensuring that pro-Moscow far-right and far-left forces seize power. Either way, our governments should fight back on all vectors.

Agreed. There are reasons why Europe cannot not expect America to return as a close partner and ally, even if Democrats win in 2028.

9/ What Musk has demonstrated is that the Starlink kill switch is real, that he personally controls it, and that he's willing to use it for purely personal reasons, against the interests of his own company and country. This is utterly disastrous for SpaceX's credibility.

❗️Zelensky says Starlink restrictions remain active in Ukraine, cutting connections above 161 km/h and preventing interceptor drones from working. He says tests in the EU showed the same terminals working above 180 km/h, leading Kyiv to conclude the restriction is deliberate. #Ukraine
