ProPublica: Ken Paxton says he's tough on crime. His trust invested $600,000 in a convicted fraudster's company.
"The blind trust's investment in Wildcatter offers a new, unreported look at the attorney general's financial ties with … executives whose prosecutions he typically celebrates."
The Original Sin of politics was the invention of the passive voice, when Adam and Eve ate of the Tree of Vague Unaccountability.
Wild how all those violent ICE agents just … got hired … and deployed … somehow. Who can possibly say how? It’s all a mystery.
NEWS — Missouri’s congressional map fight is back before the U.S. Supreme Court.
The latest appeal comes after a federal court ordered the state to use its new 7R–1D map. SCOTUS gave supporters of the new map until midday Wednesday to respond to the latest appeal.
It is effectively a license for Trump to cancel the election in whichever states and counties he wants — it only takes one ostensibly variant ballot to not transmit a vastly larger batch of fully compliant ballots, which is insane.
This is pretty fucking wild. I had assumed in a worst case scenario he would target blue zip codes and toss ballots based on technicalities but this is even worse than I imagined.
JD Vance: "If you look at his politics, it is all about saying, 'This group of people is good, this ethnicity is bad, and I'm gonna fight to give from the bad group of people to the good group of people.' I think that's a despicable way to think about your fellow Americans."

You have an unpopular president with an approval rating under 35% and he's insisting on nationalizing the midterms. They're holding a midterm convention with him at the center of everything. Rather than inspire turnout, its going to further enforce how beholden all the GOP candidates are to him
Some perspective to keep in mind in regards to current polls. Between now and November, Trump is going to do all sorts of incredibly dumb things that will further sink Republicans chances. There are GOP candidates that are now slightly ahead or tied that will lose their races because of it.

the DOGE agency will not have the authority to reallocate funds (nor would that be constitutional), it is a PR tool to create the impression that government spending is inherently wasteful and build political momentum for spending cuts
Hypothetical. I'm curious what people think. If the DOGE agency worked on the premise that half of all savings in a federal program were distributed as increased benefits to qualified recipients, would you consider the details ?
Here's a photo of Trump's nominee for Director of National Intelligence with a known Russian propagandist.
We should not give someone who takes selfies with Jackson Hinkle control over AMERICA'S ENTIRE NATIONAL SECURITY APPARATUS.
