Software engineering could and should be done with the same care as any other type of engineering. This is a post in honor of Margaret Hamilton (and also a subtweet of all vibe-coders everywhere).
Kobo overhauled their Android app, and I'm chuffed that they finally support a two page view on foldables (presumably tablets as well). It's nice to unfold my phone like a little book 😍
Lavender Hack is such a charming game! Ran it for some visiting friends a few months back as a lark/dare. Wrote about it too.
This new print of the core rules is like $20. Go check it out.
Lavender Hack kickstarter is live here: www.kickstarter.com/projects/lav...
It's a short campaign, running for 10 days. Check it out for an interesting take on handling resources in fantasy exploration games!
Now this has had over a thousand likes I guess I should do the obligatory, embarrassing… ‘hey if you liked this 1968 book cover we had absolutely zero involvement with you should check out these magazines about fantasy games & culture that we had far too much to do with’
Do not carry a cold beverage in their presence. Politely decline any drinks or sweetmeats they may offer. Keep a plain iron nail in your left trouser pocket and a sachet or paper twist of coarse salt in your right shoe. Enter and leave your chair moving clockwise. Follow up with a thank-you note.
NEW: The Grand Illusion Cinema lives! The single-screen movie house that'd been in Seattle’s University District for more than 50 years before closing in January 2025 is coming home. It will be now taking over at the Varsity Theatre 📽️

Every now and then I see myself referred to as an "AI Denier" and I want to be clear I acknowledge "AI" exists, it's just I think it's a massive energy drain, created from theft, implemented poorly for inappropriate tasks by loathsome tech executives who get hard at the idea of the rest of us dying
Watched the SNL UK D.I.A.N.A. video that is going around, and am struck by how challenging it must have been in a nation and culture that is so gifted in comedy to recreate the core SNL format of the sketches not actually being funny…
I asked AI* to make me a Marketing Material and this is what she made.
* AI stands for An Idiot (I am the idiot)
Anyway plz come buy comics and other stuff we need money for foods ty.
Did you know my games are available on RPG Trader? Wait, did you know #RPGTrader was even a thing? It's a creator friendly webstore for indie ttrpgs! You should check them out!

WOOHOO I am ON TREND just got the VERY LATEST flu shot and covid jab I am READY to sit on the couch and just watch Murderbot and Ted Lasso for the next few days.
trump and putin are both very alike in that they inherited huge material stocks from their strategic forebears in preparation for a major calamity and decided to take that and go to the casino, put it all on red, and now have no idea what to do since that didn't work
(thinking) Pokémon is set in an endlessly expanding Earth where new continents are always popping up and there is near zero inter-town communication (besides the vague League of course). Ergo, Pokémon is in the Dreamlands 🤪
I get that people like to clown on Macklemore, but he's quietly done so much good for Seattle. Besides the stuff on his website, he's donated to the music program at my kid's school and sponsors the free summer parks concerts.
I made github.com/evetion/Dial..., a small, fun #Julia package to translate Julia keywords (e.g., function , for) to your own language (functie, voor, in Dutch) during the hackathon at #juliacon2026. Inspired by #hedylanguage by @felienne.bsky.social and the recent changes to the Julia parser.
This comes back to what I've been saying: though the military has a lot to learn and CENTCOM delendum est, the chief, principle and primary party to blame here is the American Voter who in his aggregate stupidity put a very great fool back in charge of the military.

I don't know who exactly, but I feel confident that some of you want to know about this skirt with a design showing development of the Proto-Sinaitic script into many descendant scripts, including modern Latin, Cyrillic, Greek, Arabic, and Hebrew scripts. princess-awesome.com/products/adu...
Something I've noticed as more slop enters the codebase at $dayjob – even fairly trivial things produce giant wadges of code and churn, throwing up even more barriers to understanding and maintenance. Not only did nobody understand the code to write it, future understanding is impeded as well
Last month we passed a milestone without my realizing: I have now done over ONE THOUSAND STRIPS since I took over FLASH GORDON in 2023. I cannot thank you all enough for reading, discussing, and sharing the comic these past few years. Truly the best gig I've ever had. Much, much more to come ⚡
Props to BC Hydro for their very thorough network of fast EV chargers as we venture into the more rural areas of Vancouver Island. I've run into a few cranky units, but overall it's been very easy to keep the car topped up
I wrote an essay about why I'm done using AI for coding, even if it costs me my job and career: brettcodes.com/im-done-usin...
The basic gist is: AI made me a worse, apathetic programmer. I think it's bad for humanity, the planet, and the craft of software engineering. And I'm done using it.
