Again, the whole point of maga is the perpetuation of a gigantic government funded welfare program for lazy, cowardly, mediocre white men. The real underachievers are white men who cry and cry and cry when they lose money or status to women and minorities. Do not accept any of this in good faith.

If you haven’t noticed, it is Canada that is fighting for decency and respect in international relations, and the USA that is acting without honor or logic. All Americans who believe in doing the right thing must stand with Canada.

Apologies if I sound angry, but it is a real problem that the 'smart' commentary on this war is trying hard to avoid the core lesson ("the president is a fucking moron") because it doesn't sound very clever when it is absolutely the most important takeaway from this debacle.

J.C. reposted

No, No, no. Look, are there lessons to learn from this debacle? Sure. Drone warfare, mag depth, etc. But the solution here is not 'yet more tactical excellence or tech.' It is 'the president asked the impossible of the military and they should have said so.' www.theatlantic.com/internationa...

Trump literally made a swamp and they have to drain it 😂😂

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Trump on the reflecting pool: “We met with contractors today, will probably be forced to release and drain much of the water in order to do the necessary repairs, but will have them done as quickly as possible.” 😭

I think we should stop using the words "billion" and "trillion", and just use "million". Why? Because billion and trillion are so large they're difficult to comprehend, while we can actually relate to a million. 1/

View full thread

A billion is a thousand millions. So when you read that Jeff Bezos is worth two hundred fifty billion dollars, that's shorter way of saying two hundred fifty thousand millions. Feels different when said like that, doesn't it? 3/

Elon Musk is going to be the world's first trillionaire. A trillion is a thousand billions; a million millions. So when you read that he's worth 1.1 trillion, that means one million one hundred thousand millions. He's a millionaire a million times over. 😬

I think we should stop using the words "billion" and "trillion", and just use "million". Why? Because billion and trillion are so large they're difficult to comprehend, while we can actually relate to a million. 1/

If you make fifty thousand dollars a year, it'll take you twenty years to gross a million dollars. If you make one hundred thousand a year, it'll take you ten years. So although a million is a very large number, we can still relate it to our own lives. 2/

I think people need to understand that when you're quibbling over Graham Platner, coming up with hypothetical scenarios where voting for him is a lesser evil, or worse, defending him outright, you're literally asking what level of Nazism is OK in American politics. The only answer is none.

If you are serious about "never again" then remember: it's not about standing up to a line of tanks when the camps are already running. It's about standing up to social & professional pressure when the whole thing is just getting started, when it's not yet cool to do so. That's bravery that matters.

I testified Friday before Gov. Pritzker's commission studying abuses of ICE and CBP and tried to explain how the agencies went so far off track. It's actually way worse than I ever realized. Please read and share my testimony as Congress considers reform: www.doomsdayscenario.co/p/accountabi...

This is what it looks like when a political party doesn’t believe in its own legitimacy. This man is responsible for dozens of dead children and the Democrats have decided to start sizing up coffins because they can’t even put themselves between kids and infectious disease.

If Democrats ever get power again there needs to be a proper reckoning. Criminals need to be indicted, prosecuted and convicted for trying to subvert our democracy and rights for Trump. There is no room for Merrick Garlands and milquetoast centrists anymore. You need accountability.

The most powerful force in American politics today is antiestablishment rage at a system that’s rigged against most people. Democrats should ignore the carping of corporate and Wall Street Democrats and embrace Mamdani and other young progressives as the future of the party.

1/3 🧵 Nancy Pelosi called the Epstein issue a distraction, and "off-subject." Pelosi's wrong here. Epstein isn’t “off-subject”...it’s exactly the subject. If the people funding your government have kompromat hanging over them, every budget line is suspect.

I've been seeing many posts saying "no kings!" Meaning, of course, that America isn't supposed to have a king. We do seem to have a bunch of lesser nobility, Dukes, Queens, Barons, that sort of thing. Yes, the Constitution prohibits noble titles, but for practical purposes we still have them. /1

In old Europe, if you were the first born son of the Duke of Whatnot, you stood to inherit not just the title of Duke, but all the lands of the Duke's estate. The power of the Duke didn't so much come from the title, but from the wealth generated by the estate. /2

So in old Europe, inherited wealth called the shots, and everybody else knew their place and stayed in it, or else. The Republican party is trying to impose the same system on the United States, just without the titles. /3

It’s why the reactionary freaks and the eugenicists hate her and are so intent on portraying her as stupid and a DEI hire: she cuts through their obvious bullshit in a way that calls out their hypocrisy and discomforts the heroic fantasy they have self constructed for themselves.

She is brilliant. But most liberals in prominent roles are very intelligent. What's different is that Jackson does not seem obsessed with seeming reasonable/bipartisan/moderate/civil ...the various code words for adapting to the sensibilities of other elites. She is courageous and principled.

Helluva @notusreports.bsky.social scoop showing that Trump has no idea what's in his budget bill. Seems like something that ought to get a lot more attention. Also this: a republican house member actually admits that they are attacking medicaid. Yes, they are. www.notus.org/congress/rec...

I think that the outcome in the NY Mayoral race and the Wisconsin Supreme Court race both show that people power CAN beat the political money machine. That should give us all hope, and the motivation to work for the government we want.
