I’m thrilled to announce that my second novel, The Ones Who Do Not Wake, will be coming out in 2028 with Archer, Bloomsbury’s new SFF imprint. It is honestly the weirdest and most personal writing I’ve ever done, and I hope you will give it a chance when it’s out 💛

Doctors and nurses are voicing their objections. I-638 would require EVERY girl who wants to participate in sports to go through biological sex verification. That means expensive, invasive, and utterly gross examinations. Protect our kids and let them play. Vote NO on I-638

The Caine Prize is an award for African writers, judged by other African writers. As a Ghanaian/Nigerian-American, I've followed the Caine Prize for years-- I read African literature. The Atlantic article uses AI to justify overriding the judgment of African people reading their own literature.

This type of unfounded accusation is becoming more and more common against writers of a certain background. If The Atlantic care so much about AI use, why don't they go after the writers who admit using it like James Frey or Olga Tokarczuk or Anthony Horowitz? It's plain double standards.

Is there a starter pack of people who like to discuss anime/manga? I don’t mean people who are into 90s anime but people who are actively keeping up with new stuff, who are into things like Frieren or Apothecary Diaries or SpyxFamily.

as much as I understand the cynical disappointment of prize winning writers using AI, I really don't like these articles that are basically Pangram puff pieces. pointing to 'internal research' and Pangram's own statements is like asking L'Oréal why its cosmetics are superior to competitors

I wrote about how the winner of another major literary prize appears to be AI and why we need to do something about all this. 😢

the year is 2030 and i no longer consume anything that isn't personalized to me. every game, every book, every movie extends to the limits of my own imagination and no further. i haven't been surprised in five years. i cry softly, in bewilderment, if i see a word i don't know

Yes every woman has been harassed, many assaulted. But every woman has also experienced invisible loss from moments she avoided harassment. She felt a space becoming unsafe, so she left, while men stayed on. And in leaving, she lost: opportunities, experiences, learning, promotions, even simply fun.

Ok. So. Obviously I applaud and deeply respect the students at Cornell Sun who worked on this. But the “the kids are alright” framing that I often see on social media bothers me because it was also “kids” who raped this girl. Yes, there are amazing young ppl doing amazing work, but there are also

young men getting radicalized left and right. “The kids” aren’t going to fix everything because some of them are part of the problem. Why pretend that we are heading into some utopian society led by “the kids” when many of them were f-cked up by the same systems of patriarchy & racism that we were?
