Next costless mini-fix Burnham can introduce to show he cares. Any soft play: it’s now legal to leave a two footed challenge on any kid - it’s always boys - trying to climb the wrong way up a slide.

Doesn’t matter how you voted if you were front and centre in a Brexit government, actively overseeing the shrinking of our economy, our influence and our opportunities, while you rolled around in the trough. We’ll be disregarding everything you now say, thanks.

💯The case for democracy is not that voters are always right, or wise, or good. It's that they can correct their mistakes. That's why it's so dangerous to have billionaires controlling the media or regulating the flow of information. It shuts down the immune system of democracy.

I was having conversations with journalists just a few months ago about whether democracy was doomed. Look at this year: Orban defeated. Vukic defeated. Bolsonaro Jr defeated. Trump heading to likely defeat in midterms. That’s the beauty of democracy. Voters can respond. Don’t count it out yet.

My boy is playing this right. Let’s build up that popularity first. The 2016 show trials can come later.

It’s important I set this out now. The most deranged Brexit shit was seen as “always on the table” because madman X campaigned for it prior to 2016 whilst others “oh yes of course we’ll stay in the single market”ed it.

A Lula win is great news for those of us who enjoy breathing air, and will probably save several species from extinction

Finished Jon Ronson’s The Castle. Ch. 8 is about Andrew Gold. A YouTuber who moved from videos on Scientology and Meghan Markle to CIVIL WAR IS COMING and THE WOKE ARE OUT TO GET YOU. Ronson has a couple of chats with him where he cheerfully admits to chasing the clicks and not really believing it

Anyway this is how we end up THE FABIAN PLOT TO DESTROY BLAH BLAH. Which he has also done. And I know is obvious, it’s just rare to have a participant say - presumably because he admires Ronson - that it’s all a grift so clearly

“Just don’t cut me off from mandatory training! I’m begging you!”

He has a grievance narrative of THEY won’t employ white men anymore hence his anti-woke turn but this slowly unravels as it transpires his original plan to be the new Louis Theroux was unattractive for TV execs because it had become almost an impression. His ideas were also just so so.

He should really be made to teach some generic second year skills module that all the students hate, AND do extra admin, ideally a particularly tedious target-driven bit

There’s apparently someone named Ethan Klein having a scandal and I keep thinking it’s Ezra Klein and then keep realizing I still don‘t care

Did Amol Rajan inherit power or have we somehow underpinned his presence into our legal system because there’s certainly no charisma here. Max Weber’s three sources of authority just can’t accommodate him

Barely two months ago, we lost Professor Jason Arday. Thousands grieved. Institutions across higher education spoke about inclusion and belonging. Now Nathan Cofnas is being given a room at Oriel College, Oxford, to ask whether DEI is undermining higher education. 🧵

Oh but when thirteen year old me mentally played out hypothetical CM 97/98 press conferences that was “sad” and “pathetic” rather than “thought leader in the making”

This is pretty dystopian and likely to warp political understanding - UK Parlamentarians are according to @bloomberg.com increasingly using teams of 'representative' AI agents as focus groups, which is cheaper than getting real voters together:

Lots of new archival combinations in Britain and Australia throughout this work. Look forward to it being converted into monograph form - ongoing and drop him a line any interested publishers
