If these dinosaurs look a little odd, it’s because they were made before the Museum was open! 🦖 These are miniature models of the Crystal Palace dinosaurs, which were created when very little was known about these beasts. Have you heard of them before?

It's unfair to compare the lives of John Cleese and Michael Palin. The fact that Michael enjoyed a long and happy marriage, a positive and interesting career, was kind, self effacing and generous might be reasons he's happy and John Cleese isn't.

It is imperative that our survival be disconnected from employment and connected instead to citizenship, or even better, a basic human right to existence. The arrangement we have of dependence on finding an employer to sponsor our survival cannot and should not be considered by anyone as being just.

New working paper: the Norwegian wealth tax was a huge success. The "exodus" of wealthy people never happened (less than 100 individuals left). Tax revenue increased by 71.5%. No changes in business activity or investment. www.nber.org/papers/w35854

Q: How do you define socialism personally? JD VANCE: I think in reality what it actually means in the American context is you want to replace American workers with foreigners workers, and you want boys to play in girls' sports

BAIER: The president says 'SI.' Are you into SI or AI? BEZOS: I do like SI, because 'artificial' is not a very flattering thing. Like, nobody wants an artificial sweetener, artificial flavoring.

Listening to Badenoch’s speech on catch up. She says she left Uni in 2003. Debated which job she would walk into. Without irony blamed Labour for all this country’s employment issues since. Pretending neoliberalism did not destroy this country. Thatcher. 2008 crash. Austerity. Brexit. Covid.

The work that makes money relies on the vast amount of work that doesn't. Basic income recognizes both, supporting the work such as that of care, creative work, research and study, and acting in the commons.

"Being poor is living in one long emergency, with no resources." An emergency doesn't ask if you've proven you deserve help first, it demands a response. A basic income is that response, a standing floor so no one has to survive crisis after crisis with nothing to fall back on.

He literally set off a bomb in a UK street. If this had been the IRA Pierce would calling for them to be hung, drawn and quartered. This is domestic terrorism pure and simple. A bomb set off to terrorise with the aim of getting a government to change its policy. Literally a textbook definition.

Welfare asks "do you qualify?" A right asks "are you a member of the community?" Basic income is more than money. It's a claim, a right to access, our shared share of what we all inherit and build together.

@mrjamesob.bsky.social Rishi Sunak called an early election because he feared Braverman was attempting to cause civil unrest with her clampdown on protests. If that unrest followed she would have pushed her party to invoke martial law to stop the election and the Tories in power. Sunak saved us.

President Macron, "Brexit has cost the UK 8% of GDP.. Brexit is the biggest lie of the last 30 years" My view: Brexit was sold as a route to greater prosperity: less bureaucracy, more money, new trade opportunities Instead, Britain put new barriers between itself and its largest trading market.

The food people need is in grocery stores. They just need the permission slips (cash) to access it. Food banks should not exist. They are a symptom of failed policy. They exist because universal basic income doesn't. We need UBI and it's a fight because the people doing this are doing it on purpose:
