Humans conduct experiments by putting mirrors in front of various creatures looking for the self-recognition that would inform us of the animal's intelligence, but then some grifters shove us into a hall of mirrors and we can't even recognise ourselves.

Any cognition you perceive in "AI" is your own. That's it. You built your concept of its intelligence, the same way you understand fictional characters as people. The same way you can see an octopus in a towel hook. They are using your mind to sell their product. The human is you.

Thank you very much for the honour! While much of the ogham in the book came from @stoutstoat.co.uk and I, so much of it ALSO came from our wonderful team of artists! There is ogham crammed into every corner of this book - can you spot them all? 👀🏺 (1/4)

It's the International Day of Ogham today. The (former) OG(H)AM project are happy to announce the recipients of this year's Certificate of Achievement for Ogham Excellence, the team behind the creation of "Carved in Stone. A Storyteller's Guide to Pictland". More: carvedinstone.scot #IntDayofOgham

Someone on X asks what the writing on these beautiful Shinto toriii gates means. A Japanese user, unwilling to kill the magic and inform them these are the names of individual & corporate shrine donors, replies, "There are things best left unknown."

I've been recommended this multiple times and... It's just a video that doesn't seem particularly informed about what it's talking about? I don't know why I should care about Atlas maybe needing multiple takes to perform choreography when a troop of Unitree G1s are performing live for CNY.

I also don't need to be told multiple times about robots needing time to recharge whilst companies are busy showing off their robots abilities to swap out their own batteries. Talking about humanoid robots being for antisocial weirdos whilst showing a decade old NASA robot is also a choice.

"But everyone knows what I mean when I say "bike"! While that may be true, when we talk about 'bikes' it's easy for many people to forget about those who need to use non-standard cycles such as trikes, recumbents and tandems.

If you are an advocate of truth, science, evidence and accuracy, you shouldn't be promoting a software program designed to generate aesthetically-plausible text with zero connection to truth beyond chance How is this so hard for people to grasp

Generally we think of alt-text as the domain of those with accessibility needs. However alt-text is useful for many reasons, which benefit your viewers, as well as you, the creator!

Back in 2021, PMG reported on the unseen games industry crunch taking place at outsourcing studios in SE Asia. Since then, the companies we looked at have continued to work on some of the biggest games in the world, without any push to improve the conditions of the artists doing that work. (1/7)

A lot happened to me in 2024. While some of it was difficult, overall things have turned out for the better. And I got to draw a lot of interesting things! Here are some art highlights of the year.

After years away from game dev, I couldn’t stay silent about my people’s dehumanization. I made Dreams on a Pillow 🍉a game inspired by a famous Palestinian folktale about the 1948 Nakba. I’m crowdfunding it now—please back & share! 🔗 launchgood.com/1948

I made this sketch for an idea I had a long time ago exploring the idea of the famous myth that sharks "smell a drop of blood in 2 million liters of water" and become uncontrollably frenzy. This scene depicts a distant event in the past history of my shark civilization.🦈✨

I thought that the dissonance was strong with the 'gamers' who are complaining about Sweet Baby Inc. brigading indie titles that they'd never heard of or cared about, but apparently the whole movement was started by someone with... concerns over games they'd never played. What even is 'gaming'?

Artists who take commish: there's a scam going around where people ask for a sketch, then ghost you and autocomplete your sketch with gen AI. It's been happening for a while, but this is the first video I watched that detailed how it's being done.

Rhinos that are and rhinos that used to be. I missed World Rhino Day again, but it's always a good time to post rhinos, right? Here are the (widely accepted) species of rhinos that are still extant, and those that went extinct recently enough to meet modern humans, drawn to scale.

You are up to date.
