This is collaboration at its best. Two people, differing skillsets, differing opinions, bouncing ideas off each other and making something great that neither could've created on their own. I treasure these moments. I wouldn't trade them for anything. Eff the plagiarism machine.

๐ŸงตThis Molyneux quote has filled me with existential dread ever since I read it. It reminds me of one of my favorite collaborative moments working with @threeohfour.bsky.social. We were about 1/3 through Unavowed production. I asked him if he could animate some kind of idle animation for Eli.

I wrote a review of @wadjeteyegames.com's and @richardcobbett.bsky.social's /Nighthawks,/ a game that warms my cold dead heart.

Here's @brunodias.dev with a very positive review Nighthawks, which is great because I've been excited about this game for literal years. remapradio.com/articles/nig...

Add โ€œcompletely dismantle ICE and its concentration campsโ€ and youโ€™ve got the main points, I think.

Olivia@oliviasmolivia.bsky.social

The next Democratic presidential candidate just has to drive three points to have a home run: the protection of all rights for LGBTQIA+ people, codifying reproductive rights, and the breakup/regulation of the tech and entertainment industries.

Like, say what you will about Kingdom Hearts (and I'm not happy all the important lore going forward seems to be locked behind a defunct mobile game) but all the content was *in the game*

please stop replying to game devs saying things like "well look on the bright side those laid off devs can start their own indie studios now" because eventually one of us is going to snap and "WITH WHAT FUCKING MONEY" would be a shitty last thing to hear before you die

You can look at Veilguard as a game that cost too much money to make or you can look at Veilguard as a cheap salvage operation subsidized by the asset overhang of canceled projects, and how EA chooses to view it is just a function of internecine politics.

It's convenient for the child rapists who now run EA to claim Veilguard was a massive flop because what they want to do already is eliminate any part of EA that isn't a gambling and sportswashing operation. You don't have to fucking help them.

I canโ€™t really overemphasize how important the Dragon Age games are to me. Between the characters, the world-building, and the gameplay, they genuinely gave me gaming experiences Iโ€™ve never had before or since. Itโ€™s messed up how Iโ€™m still chasing those feelings!!

The truth is that Iโ€™m not really having a big emotional reaction to the BioWare news today. BioWare as I knew it announced its death with the release of Veilguard and executed it when it laid off basically the whole team. I mourn for the folks who lost their jobs, as always, but cโ€™mon.

Also: Dragon Age 2 is an incredible video game that took storytelling swings no one else was even considering in 2011, had one of the best ensembles in any medium, and was a goddamn feat of development that got made in A YEAR AND 4 MONTHS. Haters can get bent, Kirkwall 4 life

I wonder if the prevalence of things like 1 day amazon boycotts has just convinced everybody that consumer action isn't possible. It is! Be loud! Be judgy! Make it feel shameful to use AI! To watch harry potter! To play xbox games! The capitalists and fascists of the world thrive on complacency!

Kelsey ๐Ÿ’™ reposted

Yes, itโ€™s going to be double, maybe even triple, the price of the previous Xbox, and yes Xbox is on the BDS boycott list, but consider this: if you pick one up you can enjoy theoretically playing all the exciting Xbox exclusives, which do not exist and have no hope of existing for at least a decade

itโ€™s worth underlining that the amount which a modern live game is not this is directly the result of devs fighting inch by inch, for months if not years, against the guy at every corporation who demands an explanation for why you arenโ€™t doing this at all times

Morgan Johnson@poormojo.bsky.social

No joke. I think this is the most important video I have ever seen about mobile games. This guy breaks down how this game psychologically profiles you, and makes the game harder or easier in order to show you ads

In case you didnโ€™t know, shushing a baby is very different than shushing a full-grown adult. The mommy on the bus is trying to soothe the baby to make them feel better, not chide them for crying too loud.

I know itโ€™s because Iโ€™m steeped in parent content but Iโ€™ve seen a lot of mommy-on-the-bus slander lately and I wonโ€™t stand for it.

I feel genuinely really bad for the ppl at epic who I assume joined the company to do art and not to be an extension cable for a slop machine

I'm baffled by the running joke that people have never heard the song Choosin' Texas even though it is the current longest-running number 1 hit. Do you...not listen to top 40 radio??? Because it plays on the radio approximately as often as you would expect given the above fact.

It's not like some weird obscure Tik Tok hit where you have to be involved in a niche subculture. They just play it over the free airwaves like, all the time.

Just to be clear, I believe the fact that people havenโ€™t heard the song. Itโ€™s very easy to avoid if you donโ€™t listen to pop or country music. I just donโ€™t understand why so many people are talking about not having heard it. Like itโ€™s a meme.

apparently nappy.co, an invaluable stock photo resource, is shutting down in a few months because, well, AI destroys everything. this blows. their statement: nappy.co/future just fucking sucks that AI dipshits essentially get to take away our choices because they're incapable of making their own

nappy.coAn update on the future of Nappy | NappyNappy makes it easy for companies to be purposeful about representation in their designs, presentations, and advertisements.

Multiple times I've had people yell at me "well what is the ALTERNATIVE that we should give people who are using chatGPT???" and like, idk, dude! I don't know how to tell people they should have values or engage in critical thinking.
