A very good article by Barney Ronay in the Guardian, reflecting on scum and the game on Saturday.I particularly liked this: “By the end Leeds had more possession, more shots on target and just looked a happier, better structured entity than the travelling heritage exhibit at the other end” #lufc

I'm gobsmacked by ministers' failure to defend Burnham's claim about Russian interference in Brexit (and Tories' claim that he has no proof of it) when there were well-documented troll farms, funded by Russia, spewing out aggressive pro-Brexit attacks on social media at the time

Deserved much more out of that. The better side for the majority of the gane - ultimately undone by hundreds of millions off the bench. Trafford should have done better with the first. Such a huge improvement from the games with them last season but ultimately frustrating 😡 #lufc

I am angry tonight. Because tonight ICE shot a New Yorker. They shot a New Yorker while his five year old child was in the car. ICE makes this city less safe. We want them out. Now.

This was from the BBC assessing Cymru’s international window (very much a mixed bag 😃) “Ethan Ampadu has gone up a level These four games were evidence of the new levels Ethan Ampadu has reached.” Masterclass of a DM performance vs Denmark they they should teach in schools. #lufc

Brexit and Trump have combined to be an absolute disaster for UK food and drink exports. Deficit worst in a quarter of a century and sales have plummeted ever since we left the single market

A very decent performance from Cymru against a full strength Portugal - particularly 2nd half - considering the missing players and the only 5 of the starting 11 are regular starters for their clubs. Koumas was a standout and Da Silva was very good. Ben Davies rusty of course but a rock. #cymru

Lots of talk of growth ahead of the Budget, as if it were a baroque puzzle. Our problem is basic. It's that we no longer support the things which facilitate growth: Europe, immigration, higher education, tax simplification, policy stability. These are all choices and could stop making them anytime.

I did some sums the other day. Daniel Farke has spent around £240m on new players since he arrived at Leeds in the summer of 2023. But we've also recouped about £205m in player sales over the same period. So a net spend of around £35m. And we're currently 5th in the PL. Not bad going. #lufc

A nothing game - 2 teams cancelling each other out. Murhamovic outstanding - Amps excellent as usual and Tanaka and Okafor were good when they were on. But overall we were sloppy and lacked intensity. This is our next step, to find ways to win games like this. #lufc

nothing says “party of the ordinary workers” than taking a £36m donation from a crypto tycoon convicted in the US in 2022 for failings in an anti-money laundering programme before being pardoned by Donald Trump

Rodgers and Palmer are world class but that’s what £200m gets you. That said that’s the very definition of throwing away a game - stupid penalty to let Chelsea back in after a superb 2nd and complete dominance. Also Trafford stops at least 2 of those. Frustrating to say the least. #lufc

A point away from home in the prem is always a good result but really disappointing that we didn’t go in at least 2 up after being much the better team in the first half. Elvedi Motm - outstanding. Ao and Gabbi not far behind. #lufc

As a very basic thing, we as citizens should not accept the presence of a private army of masked racist thugs on the streets of our towns... intimidating others and threatening to overthrow the state... There are some fairly obvious precedents for this stuff.

This morning at 7:30am, a group of men dressed in black and their faces covered, gathered in Dover. The men, members of the anti-migrant vigilante group Patriot Platform, proceeded to block the port of Dover and several roads nearby. Our briefing: hopenothate.org.uk/2026/09/05/p...

Much better 2nd half - credit to Farke for changing it - all the subs made a difference and could well have won it but will definitely take a point after that woeful first half. Brentford will take points off a lot of teams this season #lufc

Leeds United's Anton Stach has now scored four direct free-kick goals in the Premier League since the start of last season. Only Dominik Szoboszlai has scored as many as this in that period (also 4). (Opta)

There’s something deeply repellent about Reform’s vengeful and racist obsession to take money from the most vulnerable when they’re under multiple investigations for breaking rules, dodging tax and gorging on £millions for themselves. (And trashing our EU agreement is just so thick it hurts) iPaper

Reform voters aren't interested in the issues, they just want the people they hate to be miserable. Labour needs to stop trying to win their votes. They can't be reached.

Taking the piss out of all of us. Laughing in the face of democracy, decency and respect for our country. Utterly unfit for public office. A strutting, peach-trousered, profoundly arrogant disgrace of a human being. An insult to our country and everyone who ever fought for it.
