This is remarkably impressive from a mechanical viewpoint. The AI targeting and tracking is straightforward, but to turret mount a Ma Deuce to the point where it can be a few hundred meter range anti-air gun is damn impressive. Now just need cheap distance-fused rounds...

Spending years on an assurance feature you fail to ship, when you have 3 year release cycles, and *this* is happening?

IMO, if C++ really fails to ship contracts here, thereby slipping them to C++29 at the earliest, it’s another nail in the coffin and C++ will continue on its slow decline toward being a legacy language.

New advanced voice model from Jack Dorsey / Block that is made specifically for conversations. Called Dessa. Pretty spooky if it’s as good as the sample demos they published here. Her, the movie, has arrived? block.xyz/dessa

In September, the AI company Anthropic claimed its models were approaching “superhuman capabilities for geolocating outdoor photos”. Bellingcat put that claim to the test by benchmarking the performance of Anthropic and other LLMs. Here’s what we found: www.bellingcat.com/resources/20...

My eyebrow-raising muscles are having a good training lately. What, and I can't get tired of repeating this, the actual fuck???

President Trump: Russia, frankly, has been fine on Ukraine. They haven't been doing much. Comment from me: see quoted post.

I would take more seriously the people promoting the idea of AI consciousness if they first materially grappled with the (much more obvious) consciousness of animals and how that affects our moral obligations to them.

russian data centers must be recognized as critical infrastructure of the American elections and shielded from any Ukrainian attacks, effective immediately.

Centralised power in hands of one guy other branches of government are afraid to say no to, businesses jumping through hoops to stay in his good graces, oligarchy controlling politics through bribes, starting senseless wars, befriending dictatorships, masked forces abducting people in streets...

It's insane that until relatively recently this all would describe Russia but now equally well applies to the US. How did you manage to fall so far so quickly? Equal parts bewildering, scary and disappointing.

open source projects may need to lock PRs to trusted folks. careless slop is sucking the life out of maintainers. we need better tools to talk to and onboard new contributors while interacting on issues. more friction could actually help new folks who care stand out, and let the community breathe

Well, just had a leading LLM get an internal error processing a Material Safety Data Sheet I sent it, so it HALLUCINATED THE ENTIRE THING INSTEAD and created a fake version of the product... so it could give answers about the product. Oh lord.
