My friend's 15yr old has severe COVID-induced POTS that has hugely affected their quality of life. They've just been diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis and need to start methotrexate. COVID infections are no joke. They're not training your immune system. They're DAMAGING it.

This is the disease for which I research and advocate: #MECFS. Even mild presentation is life-changing, and this is what severe looks like. People are surprised so many of us were athletes. They want to believe this can only happen to people who were already unwell. www.bbc.com/sport/athlet...

If all the people that believe long COVID is in the mind were right (they’re not) it would still be an emergency, and it would still require disease prevention… because preventing infection is still the only way we can be sure this thing won’t turn up… and what they have tried to treat it has made

Dr Louise Hyde reposted

I don’t understand why this isn’t an emergency. Do something.

What makes healthcare so special that it is exempt from OH&S requirements to wear respiratory protection? Triage for a start has no freaking idea what the pathogen is, let alone the risks involved… ED doesn’t either for the most part… and things crop up on the wards… Why is healthcare exempt?

Oopsie for the 6th year in a row. Because why do serious prevention when you can overwhelm health care each year. "The figures show there were 950 hospital admissions for Covid in August and the total jumped to 4,939 in September, up by around 420 per cent." www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home...

I'd have more respect for racists if they just said "I am a racist." All this dancing around "they won't integrate" and "legitimate concerns" is mealy-mouthed bollocks. Just grow a spine. Have the courage of you fucking awful convictions, and stop assuming we're all as stupid as you are.
