Four dimensions is too many! Let's unfold this 4D cube to three dimensions, then two, and then one. Don't worry, we'll put it back together again. The math is lovely, but it's the rhythm and dance of the lines that fascinates me here.

I don’t know that I want Ossoff to actually win the nomination but at this point I do want him to run because I think seeing the response the base has to his obvious contempt for Republicans will make the entire rest of the field better

Most AI doom arguments are implicitly arguments for nationalizing the labs.

Colin@colin-fraser.net

I guess for me it’s like, fine, yes, AI solved a Millennium Prize problem, of course it *can* do whatever scary thing, engineering supercovid, blackmailing the president, weight exfiltration, whatever. This isn’t news anymore. Whatever scifi horror you imagine, it can do. Fine. Why is it legal then?

A load bearing mythos of pop leftism is that the Dems used to be good and for the working man and then embraced neoliberalism so the working man got sold out, instead of "white America as a whole turned on the Dems after the Civil Rights Act and began tearing down their own commons and prosperity"

(flips chair around) You know who ELSE practiced their religious beliefs by holding people captive on airplanes?

Hemant Mehta@friendlyatheist.com

Evangelist Whitney Lynn says she preaches on planes because she loves “a captive audience.” She's not alone. It's becoming a trend. If spreading your message requires listeners who can't escape, maybe it's not as compelling as you think. www.friendlyatheist.com/p/christian-...

This thinking is more a kin with the belief that Clinton or Biden "stole" the 2016 or 2020 primaries, Ross isn't saying that running ads is theft, but that the nomination rightfully belonged to AES, & any action to deny him of it is therefore invalid.

VenomousGoatTV@venomousgoat.bsky.social

I have a great deal of contempt for AIPAC but they do not have the power to "steal" an election. Stuffing ballot boxes, changing vote totals, that's election stealing. Convincing people to vote for a candidate via ads and outreach is just an election. The distinction matters

The extent to which rank prejudice, xenophobia, and racism are just part and parcel of what’s considered common discourse these days is just…so fucking disappointing Running gutter trash like this out of public life should be a priority

This Christian pastor made it safely from one city to another, but he’s still blaming the crew because ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

SAM ALTMAN: AI is going to become utility like electricity or water, people will buy it from us on a meter. BERNIE SANDERS: Yes, and we will nationalize it.

the current director of national intelligence is a guy who two years ago received a trophy declaring he “Fucks Only The Young” at an (oddly dildo focused) event he organized dedicated to the conspiracy that Bed Bath and Beyond never actually went bankrupt

My hottest “I have no data to back this up” take is that phones aren’t making young people less happy. What’s making them less happy is living in a world where everyone is having their reality defined by recommendation algorithms that can only care about whether something keeps you watching.

Also worth remembering that after losing a (very shaky) majority in 2008, liberals were in the wilderness for 15 years. But they kept fighting and reclaimed a majority in 2023. Taking the long view is important.

The Downballot@the-downballot.com

Reminder that there's *another* conservative-held open seat on the WI Supreme Court that's up just a year from now. After tonight's win, liberals have a 5-2 majority. They could boost that to 6-1 — and ensure conservatives can't win back a majority any sooner than 2030.

Trump: “A big day for World Peace! Iran wants it to happen, they’ve had enough! Likewise, so has everyone else! The USA will be helping with the traffic buildup in the Strait of Hormuz … We’ll be loading up with supplies of all kinds, and just ‘hangin’ around’ to make sure that everything goes well”
