since California ballots are now out: prop 40 is the billionaire tax, and you should vote yes to stick it to them but both props 41 and 42 are designed to retroactively cancel the billionaire tax because they’re afraid they can’t beat it at the ballot box yes on 40, no on 41 and 42

October 17 is a nationwide NO KINGS day of action ahead of the midterms. There are rallies taking place all over the country to promote early voting and make sure every eligible voter has a plan, knows their options, and is ready to make their voice count. Find an event: https://www.nokings.org/

Sarah Longwell coming after Tim Walz because he called out the fact that Liz Cheney choice was a disaster is hilarious, why would democrats listen to anything coming from ex republican consultants is beyond me, stop listening to these right leaning “consultants” that is the real problem

Gavin Newsom is a Republican.

Gavin Newsom backs measure to kill the billionaire tax and ban future wealth taxes Gov. Gavin Newsom isn't just fighting the billionaire tax. He's backing Prop. 42, which would ban future wealth taxes in California, too.

The media's dilemma: should we cover that a guy contemplating how to dispose of Jews is cited by the VP as an intellectual influence or write another piece about vague connections between Democrats and Hassan Piker? 🤔

I don't know if it is circumstances or not, but that so many people are allowing themselves to be seen vulnerable and in grief ... it doesn't feel like something I would see elsewhere and I just want to acknowledge that. Cuz it is important #OurBastard #AEWDynamite

One, this hilariously outs who all got the talking points in advance and how blatantly they parrot those. Two, Schmitt really thought today he'd launch himself to the VP nomination and with that a decent shot at the presidency down the line. Instead this is the only thing he'll be remembered for.

Jim Lokay@jimlokay.com

If you want to really know how the outrage machine gets fired up: 1. Schmitt plans to drop “bombshell” on Smith 2. Someone plants story that Schmitt is a Vance VP contender to run same day 3. Right-wing Twittersphere gets talking points 4. Schmitt steps in it 5. Scheduled tweets go out anyway

The Le Tigre pumpkin spice latte ad reminds me that Starbucks are disgusting union busters and that there are better places to get your coffee.

The CEO of Starbucks makes 1,700 times what the baristas make. He commutes by private jet. In other words, Starbucks can afford a fair contract. I'm boycotting Starbucks until they sign one. No contract, no coffee.

Watched an IG video where a guy played the guitar solo to Hotel California on a toy organ where every note goes meow. Four days later, all I can say is when that song is stuck in your head you can check out any time you like but you can never leave. Meow.

Newsom has long been a traitor to his voters/this state. Enjoy that big tech money, buddy, but you'll still never be president.

The State AGs were on pace to kill the Paramount/Warner Bros by litigation and delay until Gavin Newsom stepped in and turned the tide. Now the Trump loyalist Ellisons will control CNN and HBO. Don't ever, ever forget that Newsom stabbed us in the back www.wsj.com/business/med...

The only thing I knew about Ed Sheeran before this week is that he has a song named Galway Girl that isn't a cover of Steve Earle's Galway Girl but instead a much shittier song built around the same basic concept and that discovering that fact made me never want to know anything else about him.

How did Sheeran not know that Macklemore was very definitely going to be taking about Palestine on stage after "Hind's Hall" and basically every public statement he's made since releasing that track?

If only the media had as much interest in the world's richest person, the primary funder of the Republican Party, who spoke at Trump's Inauguration and gave a Sieg Heil, once again declaring his belief "white solidarity is the only way to survive" as they do some Twitch streamer.

David Roberts@volts.wtf

For a certain kind of white man, there is no fear more primal than the fear that the people they have abused will gain power and treat them the same way.

The perennial battle over Great Highway & Sunset Dunes park is, like most elections in San Francisco, inundated with political donations. And it's almost all going to one side: The pro-park side has outraised the pro-road side 7-to-1. via @junyaoyang.bsky.social missionlocal.org/2026/09/sf-s...

No starker example of the media having different rules for each political party. If the press treated Elon Musk like Hasan Piker, every Republican in America would be forced to answer questions about why their party's biggest donor espouses anti-semitic race science.

Mid '90s and I'm at a short-lived (particularly) indie record shop in Chicago. A woman walks in and asks the guy behind the counter if they have any Bush CDs. The guy looks up, takes a breath, and says "No." She leaves without another word being exchanged.

RIP San Francisco Democratic Party. The DCCC members installed by tech oligarchs just voted against affordable housing (Prop I) and against taxing billionaires (Prop 40). The local SF Dem party is now Blue-MAGA and it’s endorsements should be ignored by anyone who cares about our city.
