I gotta say, if you park on the sidewalk, you are an asshole. An inconsiderate selfish asshole who 1. thinks laws don't apply to them, 2. doesn't want to take the time to walk, 3. thinks that because they are doing construction work or unloading things they need to park close, or 4. is an asshole.
I don’t really know what I expect in posting this, but maybe some people see it and can learn from it.
I’ll call it “lessons from an unwilling immigration attorney.”

OH: “Speaking of evil people, I was re-reading old Stephen Miller columns from when he was at Duke, and it turns out he has really bad opinions about parking.”
I ran into a mom friend from North Park little league Saturday night On university Ave near Target. I had my kids on our cargo e-bike. My friend asked where we park our bike at Balboa Park, they want to bike there more now that parking isn’t free. This is how it’s supposed to work!
The Pacific Surfliner has a train themed beer available from the cafe car! Hey @amtrak.com lean into this more, there are plenty of us transit nerds who will spend loads of money on train related merchandise!
remember when smoking was banned and bars and restaurants lost their god damned minds about how they would be destroyed by government overreach and their livelihoods are at stake and then it went into effect and it was fine and actually better for everyone.
yah like that but with parking/cars.
1/ No Dobson obituary is complete, or honest, if it does not include the fact that he is responsible for millions of Evangelicals reducing the value of women to their vagina and treating children as mere accessories to the parent’s reputation.
There are only three political positions in America today
1) I like the fascism
2) I'll acquiesce to the fascism (reasons for this one vary: cowardice, access, denial, misguidedly thinking that acquiescence is savvy, etc)
3) I oppose the fascism
The rest is details
Every flashbang could instead be a meal for a poor kid. Every hotel room for a National Guardsman deployed to fire at our neighbors could house a homeless vet. Every "less-than-lethal" bullet pulled from a journalist's eye could be already needed healthcare for anyone else. All of this is a choice.
Today I biked to:
1. Drop my oldest kid at school.
2. Drop my youngest kid at preschool.
3. UPS store
4. CVS
5. Target
6. Donut shop (I earned it obviously)
7. Post office
8. Pick my oldest kid up from school.
9. Mountain bike ride for fun in Balboa Park!

This is a pretty normal day in our family. Most days we don’t drive and it’s great. It helps that we live in North Park, one of the best neighborhoods in San Diego where everything is nearby and you don’t need to drive to get what you need.
1/ Today, April 9th, is the anniversary of the execution of Dietrich Bonhoeffer by the Nazi regime. He was hanged at dawn, an innocent man.
A common game people play when thinking back to the era of Nazi fascism is to wonder what one would have done had they lived in 1930s/40s Germany.
I’ve had a few people ask “oh, so is disagreeing with Gavin Newsom on trans athletes a PURITY TEST?”
And yes, protecting trans people from discrimination is a vital purity test.
It is pathetic and disgusting how many people who claim to be Democrats are failing it.
This piece of human shit drove his car into the women’s march this morning in San Diego AND RAN OVER OUR FRIEND.
Cars bring out the absolute worst in people.
Trans kids are not a bargaining chip. Being trans isn’t a culture war. Not giving an inch in my support for trans and nonbinary people of all ages to live freely and openly, and neither should you. Gender is what we make of it, and that’s what they’re afraid of.
Yesterday I broke my left hand mountain biking in Balboa Park.
I’m very sad and bummed. The recovery will be a couple months and during that time I won’t be able to bike at all. I’m thankful that at least I was doing something I love and wasn’t hit by a car.
Planes, Trains, and Automobiles isn’t a comedy about Thanksgiving travel struggles, it’s a documentary on the utter failure of U.S. transportation systems.
I want to make a personal request to those of you who use a bike for transportation purposes to start taking more photos and posting them.
You can do so much by showing even the most mundane errands with a bike to educate and inspire others. They're often more effective than words. 📸
