The first genuinely honest ad for generative AI I've ever seen, from Microsoft / CoPilot A mediocre white guy sees his non-white colleague getting praised for good work, he asks AI to *literally copy it*, and then he gets all the praise instead: www.ispot.tv/ad/SoDi/micr...

Omg it's beautiful. Culmination of the most annoying shit ever. Parents getting involved in local politics and at least our Step Father has finally realised what kinda people tend to run in local councils as the party they backed falls apart turning against each other. Fuckin hilarious. x3

A new survey of 1,000 American adults found that the strongest supporters of transgender sports bans are not the people who admire women most: they are the people who hold the most hostile views about women. www.helenwebberley.com/news/transge...

helenwebberley.comAre transgender sports bans really about protecting women? | Dr Helen WebberleyThe data says no. Those most hostile to women are most in favour of banning trans athletes.

And because they're "protecting women" anything goes, that's their cudgel to beat all women with. This is why I think it appears outwardly that once people indulge in transphobic hate, they suddenly come down with all sorts of other bigotries, but I think that frequently the hate was already there.

The way a lot of men in the anti-trans movement speak to, and speak about, cis women allies who are vocal in their support of trans people's human rights is straight up misogynistic hate. See how Papa Terf Graham Linehan targets cis women allies in particular for dogpiling and harassment and abuse.

Lola ΘΔ reposted

Something I spoke about before was how transphobia is often an expression of misogyny, it gives people who hate women an outlet and sets trans women up as a class of women it's socially okay to be misogynistic towards, while also providing an ideological justification for that misogyny.

For sure - and not just TX. Didn't nail the point precisely: in US it's combo of anti-immigrant & anti-trans; what genuinely surprised me about working in Brazil was absence of the former thus fixation on "gender ideology" (which includes anti-abortion, anti-feminism, anti-trans.)

Back to Hilton, this is all the MORE remarkable because unlike in most places where (im)migrants are go-to scapegoat (see US, UK, EU, Australia, Chile, Argentina...) the Bolsonaros (dad & son) really put their hate peddling into "gender ideology."

What appears to have changed from round 1 to 2 is increased participation, given compulsory voting over 18, that likely means outsized role 16-18 year olds (who can but aren't obligated to vote) played. Did a podcast on mobilizing this cohort in 2022 election: wordstowinby-pod.com/speak-yourse...

When trans creators are subtle, people dismiss the trans subtext as “headcanon.” When trans creators are loud and proud, people call it “obnoxious” and “cringe.” They just don’t want us to be represented in media at all. Because they don’t want us to exist at all.

Not a business man but the only version of events that might sit remotely well with me would be a Ueda/TLG situation where the BW folks lead a contracted studio to finish MEU then the series be put to rest. EA would never. I want the game BW wanted to make, not just any other game set in that world.

Trouble is, even the #SaveMassEffect campaign is divided between people who are advocating for a new studio to pick it up because they think that's realistic and the ones who want BW to be able to finish what it started feel like this campaign's momentum means it's the only way they'll be heard.

I appreciate that people want a new Mass Effect, but the future where fans advocate for the work itself and not the people who make it is the one the vultures at EA want. If you'll take it however you get it, they can keep treating people who make what you love as expendable.
