So much to say about Brazil, not least of which is the role that Erika Hilton, a Black trans leader and most voted woman politician in Brazil, played in mobilizing folks for Lula. She was behind the critical, concrete, economic promise of shorter work-week. theprint.in/feature/erik...

theprint.inWho is Erika Hilton? Black trans politician was one of Lula’s loudest campaignersErika Hilton’s electoral triumph comes amid a hostile environment. Brazil has the highest number of reported murders of transgender people in the world, with 80 recorded in 2025.

NEW: "Donald Trump was an active participant in Jeffrey Epstein’s sexual abuse of young women during the mid-to-late 1990s," per new House Judiciary Dem report. Report has new allegation that Trump raped a 24-year-old and then promised the victim a visa & NYU admission, demanding she stay quiet.

I have discovered the exact, objective, scientific amount that Elizabeth Holmes and Nathan Fielder are lying and/or credulous. By solving this it means that I’ve won, which is the point of the movie, and really all movies if you think about it.

Hands Off NYC says community defenders mobilized and stopped ICE from engaging in any abductions, noting the presence of 25 ICE vehicles, plus agents who ran over and maced people. Reports from yesterday say ICE was located staying at a Hampton Inn at Ditmars & 102nd in Queens.

This was neat. I thought it was maybe a bit scattered, perhaps it was partially improvised, but AES definitively stuck the landing. Really cool seeing a guy talk like this.

This is Tommy. Tommy had a question about my allegiances. Listen to the end to hear about his.

i’m a defender of the gen z stare at this point because working in retail or similar means you will have people in front of you genuinely asking the stupidest fucking questions the likes of which you could have never predicted & can’t even begin to answer. and i need a sec for my brain to reboot

i’m a millennial and was also in retail/food from 2010-2015 and it was totally different (in some good ways & some bad)

I'm still catching up on the aftermath of Christa Pike's execution ordeal but I really appreciated this piece by @keribla.bsky.social, which provides key context and analysis on botched executions, with myriad examples from recent and not-so-recent years. (Do people remember Angel Diaz? I do...)

propublica.orgWhy Tennessee’s Botched Death Row Execution Could Happen AnywhereThe complications behind Tennessee’s failed execution of Christa Pike aren’t uncommon — and show how easily another botched execution could occur, even as others are planned soon in Texas and Florida.

I LOVE how @propublica.org dealt with official comment here, editorially and stylistically.

A year ago, @propublica.org told you immigration agents had detained more than 170 U.S. citizens. We’ve updated our count, and we’ve got all the receipts. The tally: At least 506 citizens detained. Sometimes held at gunpoint, handcuffed, or even deported. projects.propublica.org/american-cit...

Man, imagine you're minding your own business, getting kind of drunk with your friends at a picturesque brewery in Maine, when suddenly John Roberts walks by and you get to start heckling him. Must have felt incredible. That's the dream. www.nytimes.com/2026/10/01/u...

she still cites federal prosecution as her “cherished career” lmfao prosecutors suck so bad even when they stumble into doing the right thing

Wild stuff. Sheri Mecklenberg, career prosecutor accused of misconduct in Broadview 6 case, resigns from DOJ. The NYT obtained her scathing resignation letter, in which she says the U.S. attorney directed her to bring felony charges over her objection. www.nytimes.com/interactive/...

The time to push candidates toward more progressive policies is NOT after they get in office. It’s before. We have to look out for everybody. That may include a type of person that is not in your life!

It’s very simple and it’s been said over and over but I guess it needs saying continuously: if you deem one group too small to have equal rights you are enabling fascism, not fighting it. The people saying Dems are GREAT on trans rights are not paying attention and/or saying stuff like this.

everyone talks about the gen z stare but no one mentions how you can politely greet a boomer and ask them questions and address them directly whilst looking in their eyes and they will literally ignore you as if you are not in the room
