just last week I was struggling with an impossible task: what to eat for lunch. I love cracking a hard problem but this was just overwhelming. So I asked my personal AI assistant. It said "sandwich," which was just perfect. I had it place the order on Uber Eats and 45 minutes later I was eating.

Step 3 Mailed it in Oct 20. I bravely used USPS, because I don't believe they will refuse to deliver it, at least not here in Oregon. Plus I can find out if it made it.

Pretty amazing that MLK talked about UBI over 50 years ago.

Today is the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty. Lifting everyone out of poverty with UBI + UBS is the morally right thing to do, but it's also economic good sense. It is very costly to let poverty exist. The wealthy are willing to let us all pay those costs and use poverty as a stick.

Add "for Tax Purposes" to a movie: Ran this request to the AI on Google: add "for tax purposes" to the title of 100 top movies Got 100, in various groups: Return of the King for Tax Purposes To Kill a Mockingbird for Tax Purposes Schindler's List for Tax Purposes ...

OK so we've tried the full-on MAGA, John Roberts/Heritage Foundation omnipotent unchecked Unitary Executive thing. This dog won't hunt. Time to vote them all out and stop the bleeding. Grifter amateur hour needs to end now.

Amazon knows more than I do about myself. It reveals how deep it can probe with these two insightful observations: Home & Family: March 12, 2026 Stores an item in the bathroom Interests and Hobbies: May 8, 2026 Soaks beans before cooking

I don't know what item I stored in the bathroom, but I confess that I have stored things there. I would consider the soaking of beans to be something under cooking. If I had known it was considered a hobby I might not have done it.

So one way to lower greenhouse gas emissions is to fight a war with the country that controls one of the main oil delivery routes. Lower deliveries, less gas used, lower emissions. Thanks, Trump!

This is actually a pretty scary picture when you realize what it is showing...

Glaciologist @matthias-huss.bsky.social shows that the centre of the Great Aletsch glacier in Switzerland (the biggest in the Alps) lost 6 meters(!) of thickness just this summer. "No words...", he adds on LinkedIn.

A bit technical for some, but the Groundbreaker article gets to the financial heart of the AI boom: it is a balloon, and in the next two years, it is going to pop.

“We have spent the last 18 years describing the financial crisis as .. a black swan .. .. It was none of those things.” It was “the scheduled mathematical consequence of loans that assumed perpetual appreciation. .. The AI boom has rebuilt this exact structure.” www.groundbrkr.com/p/the-teaser...

Gonna happen in the USA, and everywhere, sooner or later. The sooner the USA gets going on it, the better off we will be. Are we leaders or followers?

I don’t agree with all Abdul El-Sayed’s views, but GOP “othering” is a disgrace. He was born in US, educated at Bloomfield Hills Andover, where he captained football team; Univ of Mich; Oxford as a Rhodes Scholar; Columbia, where he earned an MD. Debate his views, not whether he’s a “real” American.
