But AI has *nothing to do* with digital sovereignty. It is *not* load-bearing. All it takes to understand this is a little thought-experiment. Imagine that we removed all the chatbots from Canada, or the UK, or the EU, or the USA. What would fall down?
Nothing important.
And then I saw a brutally dark meme on X:
An American at the gas station:
“Why is this diesel slightly red?”
“Never mind. There’s just a little Ukrainian blood in it.”
🇺🇸 Let your representatives know what you think.
🫂 Drop some virtual hugs for Ukraine below.
As expected, the Prime Minister's promise to sort out the mess of funding for Jodrell actually meant nothing - it seems the government would like it to be some sort of heritage theme park when you can go and see where we used to do science. 🔭
'The University of Manchester is seeking alternative funding sources to keep scientific work at Jodrell Bank going after hearing that lost UK Research and Innovation funding would not be restored despite interventions by the prime minister.'

Will cap this thread off with a link to Allison Parrish's talk on the ways that birth of the "Hacker" mythos directly fucked with Margaret Hamilton's efforts to model weather systems at MIT.
Seeing people joke about software engineering in the wake of Margaret Hamilton's death. Obviously there's a difference between what's largely euphemised as software engineering presently and the discipline she strove to create.
ah damn, RIP Margaret Hamilton.
she took safety-critical software engineering seriously, and got people to the moon and back.

The activities in Fairford appear to be an overconfident, poorly planned, operation to steal large quantities of fuel oil.
But enough about the US Military
Sir James Ratcliffe has as much right to tell us what's wrong with modern Britain as any other elderly white reactionary billionaire parasite who lives in Monaco.
Well this just sucks. Getting a response from a creator to a question about their work is one of the best things about social media. Looks like that's another thing of the past.
Welp, scammer finally got a response out of me. Instead of the "I just came across book and was immediately stuck by" it was a straight up reader question - in this case "how much of the series did you have in mind when writing the first book." On replying, I got the response:
Kemi Badenoch on Today defending the neo-Nazi council candidate by saying that it is right to give those who have previously been radicalised a chance. Badenoch on Shamima Begum, whom was groomed by Islamic State when a child, "Citizenship is a privilege, she forfeited it." 🤔
