This video camera study showed that less than 5% of people on bikes broke traffic laws while riding bikes, yet 66% of people did so while driving. And perhaps even more importantly, if you REALLY want even MORE bike-riders to obey laws, build more protected bike infrastructure. Via @carltonreid.com

Low Traffic Neighbourhoods - 'more research need'.. Well from 2022 to 2025, funded by the NIHR, we (& colleagues) did that research. And we have 10(!!) peer reviewed articles so far, with more on the way. Here's a summary of our papers so far (all open access so get reading):

Musk's "flying car," in case there's any doubt, will never actually see any sort of meaningful commercial launch and exists entirely as stock-fluffing propaganda aimed at the U.S. tech media's unlimited supply of credulous dopes

People already inventing scenarios like “what if the guy in the truck is hauling Steinway pianos for regular practice at senior centers while also working as a refrigerator deliveryman.” Good job, everyone. You’ve been, shall we say, carwashed.

the year is 2030 and i no longer consume anything that isn't personalized to me. every game, every book, every movie extends to the limits of my own imagination and no further. i haven't been surprised in five years. i cry softly, in bewilderment, if i see a word i don't know

This makes me angry. UK policy on foreign students is wrong because it is racist and corrodes our society. It's also plain stupid: it is wrecking a major UK export industry that provides jobs, growth and innovation for our country.

This is true. In 2016, I got into an argument with a gay man on a menswear forum. I've since made it my mission to make every man dress gay, thereby destroying his ability to tell who is actually gay and, ultimately, his chances of finding love. I built my social media following to achieve that goal

We can handle the criticism, but this was an poignant reminder: When you change the status quo, there is always a group who feel change is being done to them, rather than for everyone. And the loudest voices online aren’t representative of those who have most to gain from a different kind of city.
