The American owned Sun is promoting a vigilante as the face for Canada's most multicultural and open city. This is same American owned paper that said crack-smoking Rob Ford should be elected mayor. Toronto - you're better than this. Let's get out the vote for Olivia Chow.

Fun fact: The state fruit of Wisconsin is the cranberry, and some of the approximately 250 growers statewide came together to show the Brewers who they are rooting for in the World Series. (Thanks, Wisconsin State Cranberry Growers Association!)

If anyone was skeptical, "Musk disables Ukraine's Starlink terminals during a major Russian attack" is a pretty strong argument to get US oligarch tech out of our governments (and out of everywhere else.)

What a weird world we live in - Ukraine hits a data centre deep in Russia - Irish twitter users see racist posts about IPAS centres in Offaly fall off a cliff

And now the best part: Bot traffic from the #Yandex network has plunged to near zero following the strike on its Vladimir data center. Bot traffic includes automated requests from search crawlers, scrapers and other online services. Twitter must be a ghost town by now.

All three Yandex AI supercomputers are reportedly offline: Galushkin in Vladimir, Chervonenkis and Lyapunov in Sasovo, whose data center shut down after the Oct 8 strike. Yandex Cloud outages also threaten thousands of Russian firms relying on it for websites, databases and payments 👏

OMG. The Yankees didn't win a World Series again this year. What a tragedy! Why is it the default position of so many baseball people that the Yankees going 17 seasons without a championship is some catastrophe when there are 14 other teams in the same boat or worse? WGAF about the Yankees losing?

I wonder if it might be good for activists to put up posters in areas like this naming and shaming the businesses that have pushed for bike lane removal. I know that I would like to know which businesses to avoid giving my money to.

Poll modeling shows Doug Ford's PCs could win another majority government on just 34% of the vote. First-past-the-post bails out unpopular governments while the rest of us suffer. We need proportional representation so governments always represent a broad majority.

Once again, for the politicians, business leaders, and journalists still actively posting on X/Twitter: why? You're using a platform that's owned by someone who's trying to break up your country. The juice isn't worth the squeeze.

Wherever you look, first-past-the-post gives politicians total power without a majority vote to reshape key areas like education. Proportional representation adds a vita check on these powers, ensuring decisions about your child’s education require a true majority consensus.

Toronto Life@torontolifemag.bsky.social

Last spring, Doug Ford’s government seized control of the TDSB, promising to rein in wasteful spending, improve test scores and restore order to public education. A year and a half later, teachers are angry, trustees are powerless and students are floundering

AI CEOs want some high authority to agree that AI can be conscious because it cleans them of culpability when AI does something dangerous or illegal. "The Pope agrees that AI has consciousness therefore we can't be held responsible for our AI nuking Brazil. It was the AI's conscious choice."

This is fucked! Toronto mayoral candidate Brad Bradford is using an Israeli AI app to create an army of snitches and reply-guys. The app finds valid criticism of the candidate on social media, gives you an AI-written reply to post, then gives you rewards

Canada's National Observer@nationalobserver.com

The app has been used extensively in Israel, and in Georgia by the federal ruling party, Georgian Dream – whose government announced plans last week to ban all major opposition parties. Bradford's is the first known use in Canada.
