Listen: I don’t want to minimize the danger of high e-bike speeds. But if the problem here is that stores sell e-bikes that can drive faster than legal limits, then where’s the story about how literally *every car dealership has been doing the same thing for decades*?!?

cbc.caHidden cameras show some stores unlocking speed limits on e-bikes, selling e-scooters that go up to 120 km/h | CBC NewsA new hidden camera investigation by Marketplace shows how some stores are selling e-scooters and e-bikes with top speeds much higher than provincial speed limits and with recommended rider ages young...

"If trans people want a boycott of The New York Times, where's the call to do so?" Here is a declaration laying out how the NYT is a key driver of trans genocide, why boycotts work and why anyone who gives a damn about trans lives and rights must boycott The New York Times.

transnews.networkBoycott The New York TimesFor years The New York Times has relentlessly pushed anti-trans propaganda, playing a significant role in the escalating genocide against us. It's far past time for a call to action: anyone who cares ...

I like how most requests we have for "allies" are: 1. Speak up against the things trying to eradicate us 2. Don't buy/support specific products that loudly fund the movement to eradicate us And the collective answer to both is, "No, but I'm still safe and you can trust me"

Cis women, teach a trans woman how to do her makeup. Braid her hair. Take her shopping. Teach her everything you know about presenting as a woman. Maybe you resented it, but you can use that knowledge to affirm her. And for godsake, if you are attracted to trans women, shout it from the rooftops!

I’m frustrated right now because, without naming names, I’m watching an excellent vid by a big creator making the very argument I made two years ago that got me huge harassment and smears. But now he has years of evidence of exactly what I said would happen. I bet his vid will be widely praised.

Do men just sit around thinking up the worst most ignorant thing to say? The terf movement isnt organic its astroturfed and paid for by billionaires and evangelicals and some governments. It is supported by major media outlets because of their owners bias. It is a manufactured moral panic.

Gareth Watkins@garethwatkins.bsky.social

People want to hear this even less, but the left/liberals need to study the TERF movement as an example of wildly successful organising and cultural engineering by an extremely niche, mostly online micro-community.

Sex is both mutable and socially constructed. Trans people change sex. This change comes in a wide variety of forms, social, medical, legal, etc. Trans liberation hinges on the rights to enact and shape these changes, and protections against discrimination for doing so.

The only thing Thomas Jefferson has ever gotten uniquely and loudly right compared to his peers is that the Constitution should be a living document and change with the times. Which we didn’t do. We kept the rape and racism though!

sometimes something is really obvious but you need to type it out anyway for mental health reasons: the venn diagram of people who believe in dignity and democracy for all & people who support the rich, cops & israel is two entirely distinct circles

It's simultaneously validating and frustrating to see everything leftists have been saying about electoral politics be proven right, only for Dems to freak the fuck out and act like actually addressing problems is an existential threat to the country.

Local media did not pick this up, despite nearly 100k views on FB. I have continued to hear from people who are concerned. Usually, when there's a local connection to a national event, media pounces.

Gargoyles is legit a “You can’t make em like this anymore” show. A bunch of classically trained actors getting Disney to lusciously animate their horny high fantasy Shakespeare fanfic that they made during their off time from making Star Trek. And it was a huge hit somehow?

people hate me for this but i am consistent and correct: colorado should get to them first, top down and bottom up. the hospital is in contempt of court, so start grabbing their board and executive suite. the providers are violating state nondiscrim law, so start stripping them of their licenses.

1) countless trans kids are going to needlessly suffer because of this. 2) 18 year olds are ADULTS – so your conceding (as Trump admin hoped by setting 19 at age) that restricting care for trans adults is fine. 3) this goes against the recommendations of most medical professional organizations...

Erin Reed@erininthemorning.com

1. In a move that is likely to be seen as capitulation to Trump, EITM can confirm that Mamdani's first ever trans direct care clinic will deny care to those under 19 years of age, the age from Trump's anti-trans EOs. It is a far cry from his pledge to "use every tool" to fight capitulation.

Gotta admit after more than two years of being called a crank and a doomer for saying that businesses will flinch when they’re made to pay the real costs of AI it’s nice to see this in the newspaper

To keep people up to date: six people who exercised their first amendment rights had their lives overturned and were forced to pay hundreds of thousands of dollars in attorneys fees because of clear prosecutorial misconduct.

Watching a series of former Confederate states rush to eliminate any vestige of black representation in the House pretty much answers the question whether the Voting Rights Act was still necessary.

The more I read how actual revolutionary anarchists spoke back at the start of the 20th century, the more I realize how much the liberal state has done to limit our imagination these last 100 years. We can do so much more than the socialist bandaids within state power many leftists fight for now.
