On one hand, Alan Wake 2 is on sale for $15 and I love Remedy's stuff, but on the other hand it's exclusive to the Epic store and Tim Sweeney is working overtime this week to remind everyone what a miserable, hateful little shit of a man he is, which is making me think I may have to give it a pass.

take me out at the ball game / disappear in the crowd / hide me behind a memorial plaque / walk away calmly and never look back / stay en route route route to your own seat / that you bought with a false name / though you'll want. to. flee or hide out / watch the whole. ball. game

It amazes me that the developers of Slack and Discord both have no clue what the point of "ignore" is. Dropping a big "somebody you're ignoring posted a message" in chat every time they post (and notifying you of it): obnoxious and not helpful.

We really need to reorient the flows of capital in the gaming industry so we feed some central mass that isn't an all-devouring black hole like EA or Microsoft; and instead is a kind of thing that wants to make games, so we get a sun of our own to light the solar system of games.

Bioware games are great because of story. That's it. They made it their mission early on to be the best storytelling games in the industry, with a single-minded mission to truly advance the state of the art of branching dialogue and the sense that player's actions have consequences.

You'd think that upon learning that writing an app store / launcher / installer that works well is hard, one might decide to actually staff such a project with excellent engineers (possibly even with direct domain experience)... but super genius here goes with "let's let the slop machine do it!"

Anybody know if there are settings for screenshots on the Steam Machine somewhere? Recently all my screen shots are 1280x720 even while the display resolution is 1920x1080, even on games that would screencap at 1080p previously. #Gaming #SteamMachine #GabeCube #Help

The HTML draft standard and Mosaic arrived during my junior/senior year of high school and I didn't actually get exposed to the WWW until I was a college freshman... I did write HTML by hand for a personal website in 1995 (hosted on my workstation at NSCA SDG, not Geocities though).

If Alan was poor little meow meow in AW2 then Dylan is a sad puppy. A sad, 34yo killer puppy who's probably the most powerful being on earth. #ControlResonant #ControlResonantFanart #annikART #DontEatTheMold

So apropos of nothing in particular, let’s talk about media tie-in novel pay vs. original work pay, shall we? Let’s say you write a novel. It’s set in your own world, your own characters, and titled The Original. You get a book deal! Look at you go!

Feeling pretty bummed out by Control Resonant. I absolutely loved the original game, but the combat design in this one seems tuned for optimal misery for me. I just do not enjoy (and suck at) the melee combat and dodge mechanics and it seems like that is all you get. #Gaming #ControlResonant

Past that initial tutorial boss battle things definitely get better with more goodies unlocked and I'm getting by on the standard difficulty and enjoying all the SCP-style weird crap going on. I wish respeccing was free so I could tinker with builds as easily as I can turn on the assist settings...

Upon reflection, I think that I am content with the Sayonara Lara ending. (rot13) Ynen erwrpgf gur vzcbffvoyr snvelgnyr dhrfg vzcbfrq ba ure, pubbfvat gb yvir ba gur fhesnpr, nf n uhzna, va gur jbeyq jvgu Znev, ohg fgnaqvat ba ure bja srrg, gnxvat ure gvzr, abg unhagrq ol fbzrobql ryfr'f qrnqyvar.

The dumbest thing about this place is people thinking the crypto-bro dipshits that built this half-assed slop-coded twitter clone were ever going to do anything other than speed-run the dumpster-fire-ification that twitter went through.

I mean I do appreciate that at least most of the folks I followed on twitter came here so I can see their posts without visiting elon's white nationalist paradise, but it's pretty much a "well we ran from one burning building to another that's maybe slightly less on fire" situation.

I remain pretty terrible at shmups, but am still enjoying slowly improving at the Embodiment of Scarlet Devil (Touhou 6) remake. The Spell Practice mode where you can just keep trying against specific boss attack patterns is a favorite QoL feature. #EmbodimentOfScarletDevil #Gaming #Touhou #Shmup

I used to think Call of Cthulhu was a little optimistic about the number of death cultists that exist in the general population. I also thought the MCU was a little over the top with its Nazis in congress thing. My life has become the single ongoing revelation that I haven't been cynical enough.
