Grouchy annual PSA that the 4th of July is important but the birthday of America is on June 21 when the Constitution was ratified by the 9th state of the original 13 (New Hampshire)

Voting for me is easy. You can write my name in the write-in box and then fill in the bubbles accordingly. If you need to pull out your phone to look up how to spell my name, that’s completely fine. I hope I can earn a first place ranking on your ballot. Andreaformaine.com

There are real Dem gerrymanders out there, but harping on New England as their talking point example is so dumb NH: drawn by GOP as two competitives ME: has a Trump +9 district CT: same as Rs drew it when they won 3 / 5 MA: impossible to draw a red seat that's not hideous RI: two seats VT: one seat

Susan Collins praises the Sup Ct ruling on tariffs...but she refused to lift a finger to kill the policy; declined to sign a legal brief arguing they were illegal; and actually PRAISED Trump for "working very hard" on the issue. Behavior of a pundit -- not a senator with actual power. #MEpolitics

“Not one third of the inhabitants, even of this province, are of English descent,” Thomas Paine noted in Common Sense, "This new world hath been the asylum for the persecuted lovers of civil and religious liberty from every part of Europe."

I shit you not there is a SpongeBob Squarepants episode that literally explains why the answer to this is "the guy who takes 6 months".

One of my fave political stories ever: when Maine’s GOP then-Gov LePage thought that not signing bills by deadline meant they’d die. So he ignored all these Dem bills, thinking it’d kill them. But in Maine, if Gov just does nothing (rather than veto), a bill becomes law. So they all became law.

Trumpists will be giving the ICE murderer awards and recognitions and honors. That’s because (1) killing someone who thinks differently than they do is their fantasy (2) most of them are too spineless to do it but (3) by praising the murderer they can murder in a fantasy-league way

The Epstein file is the only thing Trump has ever taken his name off of

Literally wake up a little early, doing my morning thing, scrolling bluesky for a few minutes and my ENTIRE feed is just "stop scrolling" "oh the horrors that we've seen" etc and how much of this do I have to scroll through before I find out what the hell anyone is talking about!?

I don't think you need to think there will be long term shifts in Trump's policies or behavior (there won't be) to enjoy what just happened, sometimes it's good to enjoy things that are funny in the moment

I mean, Lemons must understand that at point his license is in jeopardy. I’ve never seen anything close to this. This is the “four seasons total landscaping” of prosecutions. Except here, there will most certainly be lasting professional consequences, if not criminal.

This seems like as close as we're ever going to get to a pro-se sovereign citizen caliber legal performance from the prosecution's side of the court room.

"This could take down Democrats, too." I know. And I frankly wouldn't give even an itty bitty damn if it implicated every Democratic man in Congress, every Democratic hopeful for 2028 and every Democrat who has even thought about running for office. Down with the sex predators, wherever they are.

Today is a good day to remember, and to say, that the #MeToo movement was right, and was righteous, and has been vindicated over and over again. There was no overreach. There was no excess. There was no they-went-too-far. So much work remains to be done.

It's Tuesday. It's November. And it's been awhile. So lets tell the story about the eel, the scheming wife who ate it, and the talking magpie that ratted her out! That's right! It's time for the eel tale from the 1370s blockbuster hit, "The Book of the Knight of the Tower." 1/5 🗃️🧪

I'll get back to "party unity" as soon as the Senate Minority Leader tells us if he voted for the Democratic party nominee for mayor of his city. I'm tired of party unity only ever running one way.

Trump is like a toddler: time he spends asleep is to be prized, not resented. Every minute he sleeps is a minute he is not tantruming or breaking things or smearing his own shit on things.

Images of Donald Trump appearing to close his eyes at an Oval Office announcement this week rocketed around social media this weekend, with the president’s opponents seizing on the footage to raise questions about Trump’s on-the-job performance.
