Elizabeth Holmes: "I will run all the blood tests on a single drop, faster and cheaper." JAIL. Elon Musk: "I will sell you a sentient, flying car." +ELEVENTY BILLION DOLLARS. I don't understand it. I hate it. And I'm so tired.

I'm not excusing Holmes here. She did real harm with her lies and deserves to face justice. But the inconsistency of that justice is, to be polite, exhausting.

I feel like an issue that would connect well with voters would be doing anything at all to slow the current progression toward "absolutely everything now is a scam"

Sorry, but didn’t you and your NDP colleagues vote against a motion to separate the bill, then stay on the sidelines when the vote came up to let the government rush this through committee without debate? www.ourcommons.ca/members/en/v... bsky.app/profile/jenn...

Carney rammed C-22 through committee, rushing a massive expansion of state surveillance powers without proper debate. While few minor fixes were made, core threats to digital privacy and civil liberties remain unresolved. Canadians deserve better than secret orders and closed-door cabinet overreach.

Important rules for the "age verification" era of the internet that we're living in: 1. Do not do age verification. 2. If you have to do age verification, cheat. Do not under any circumstances give them your real ID.

in Canada we have a store called "Canadian Tire" and you're probably thinking "a store named after a tire definitely has a circle for a logo" but no, you're wrong. they chose a colossal red triangle

It's so annoying when a bigot dies and we get to listen to people spouting a lot of pious crap about them. The damage they do will always outlive them.

if someone is saying shit like "it's lowkey biphobic that you support AOC even though she won't legalize cannibalism" or "you realize that expecting your room to have windows a luxury belief right" what you're seeing are the charged particles being shot off from polycule fission

If I were Mayor of Ottawa, I would drive the @octranspo.com management team to Westboro, dump them on a random side street and give them 1 hour to get back to City Hall using only a Presto card Whoever makes it back in time gets to keep their job

It’s old-fashioned to defend mainstream journalism these days but some of the most reliable reporting from people actually on the ground will be the AP and Reuters the next 24 hours. Your Substack journalist writing takes will be using frontline reporting from them.

MIT’s NANDA initiative found that 95% of generative AI deployments fail after interviewing 150 execs, surveying 350 workers, and analyzing 300 projects. The real “productivity gains” seem to come from layoffs and squeezing more work from fewer people not AI.

In lieu of my usual rewatch of You're The Worst, I have the perfect film response to a recent lack of closure; The Banshees of Inisherin. It has everything; Adorable & loyal animals. Homesickness for somewhere you've never been and for people you may never see again. Wailing against the inevitable.

Sometimes when people ask me why I’m wearing a mask I say I’m traveling or have some important thing soon and can’t afford to get sick and miss it and that’s pretty much always true but I think it would be nice if it were more normalized to just say “I don’t want to get sick” and leave it at that

Gosh, explaining complex ideas by way of Dialogues? How insufferable and unprecedented. Huh? Plato? Socrates? Never heard of them.

Jesus this book is tedious. The authors like to explain everything through little made up fables and fictional dialog between anthropomorphized characters. Just skipping page after page of nonsense writing.

EV owner lesson learned; I thought not using my brakes would make the pads & disks last longer, but they decided to just corrode instead. Turns out they need regular exercise to keep clean and healthy.

I'm starting to think The Great Beard experiment has run its course. Might keep it until my birthday, but a more youthful face would support the energy I'm trying to bring into the new year.
