Everything that's legal basically shouldn't be and more or less, vice versa

😬 "This works similar to a normal camera, the difference being that in our case, radio waves instead of light waves are used for the recognition," explains the cybersecurity expert. "Thus, it does not matter whether you carry a WiFi device on you or not."

There are approximately 1 million professors in the US. Their median salary is around $85k/yr. So the tech monopolies could've hired *every professor in America*, paid them *more than double their current salaries* *for five years*! Imagine what they could've created!

Anyway, at 100 $/hr, $1 trillion buys 10 billion hours of labor. An army of 1 million really smart people could work for 10,000 hours per person. That's one million people working full time for five years at a $200k/yr salary. Imagine what 1,000,000 well-paid nerds could've produced in 5 years!

the mandatory security training i had to take at microsoft was like 20 years ago but one aphorism from there that sticks out in my mind at the moment is "strings are evil", and, this may be an ignorant oversimplification, but my understanding is that PHP is based pretty much entirely on strings.

My only solution to the current moment is to get on with it and try to make a good videogame. Admittedly, that is my solution to almost every situation, so shouldn’t be taken as advice.

Kenney hit the infamous "two billionaires with one post" achievement, remains very rare, also shows once again that money does not equal intelligence, capability, or insight: Kenney is obviously right.

To all the sloppers in gamedev: You wish you had a micron of the creativity and capability the average young person making a game on an old laptop while watching tutorials on YouTube has had for decades. No machine will turn you into a creative person.

7/ Now, we don't even need to speculate. It's clear to anyone with eyes that this administration weaponizes the legal system to go after Democratic lawmakers.

3. Okay, so what would convince you that a piece of software (often phrased here as "an AI", gah) is conscious/can feel pain/etc? Honestly, I'm really tired of this extremely silly question, but here is my answer: >>

Anthropic is out with new nonsense about Claude (or the collection of models called Claude) deserving moral consideration and/or be able to feel distress, so my inbox is filling up with journos asking me to comment. I've also got a day job, so here is a brief set of public comments on this: >>
