Democracies don't end with a bang. They are slowly chipped away at until they become something else. Don't be fooled into thinking it can't happen here.

I’m not a political journalist, so was gladly surprised at the community I found here last night. To Americans anxious about the upcoming elections, a key thing we learned in Brazil that might help you: DO NOT engage with the far-right online. Don’t share rage bait. Amplify your people. Ignore them.

Economic analysis shows that the Trump admin claimed they added 1,200,000 new jobs to the economy in 2025. They later corrected this number down to only 116,000 jobs, a 90% drop from their initial number.

Some facts about the 28 people charged today: - Every one was a lawful permanent resident. - 4 of the 28 are accused only of registering, and not voting, and only 22 are accused of voting in 2024. - The median and average age is 50 - 22 noncitizen voters = 0.0001% of the California 2024 electorate.

Months of fears around the use of armed immigration enforcement to affect national elections appear to be coming to fruition. Federal authorities announced the arrest in California of at least 11 people and charges against 28, alleging they registered to vote as noncitizens.

Per Bloomberg, since 2025 began, initial US jobs reports have been revised down in 16 of 20 months, erasing 793,000 jobs. That’s nearly 40,000 jobs a month that were reported, then quietly erased. They just vanished like the donations for the Kennedy Center. unusualwhales.com/news/us-jobs...,

Lots of good news today for Dems. Don’t get complacent. Check your registration. Go vote - early if you can. Let’s win this fucking thing.

You know, the thing is, I had drafted this piece a month ago, and then never published it, because I thought maybe it was too mean.

I said this in a thread last night and in a thousand threads before it, but you really are doing the work of those who would destroy democracy and the rule of law when you are a doomer. You can be aware of — and vigorously oppose — the lawlessness of this administration without insisting on doom.

Directing DOJ to slow-walk politically damaging decisions until after people vote would be a major scandal under any normal administration. Here, it’s just Friday.

The White House is coordinating with the Justice Department to hide its abortion agenda from voters until after they've voted in order to try to influence the results of the election.

What he👇🏾said “The reason the majority of racists in this country are white males from low-income brackets with low educations, simply put, is that they're pissed off because they couldn't win a race that was literally rigged in their fucking favor all because they were born straight white males.”

Dear American voter, It is August 6, 2026. Economic growth is slow, prices are up, housing and health care is unaffordable, we are in a war Trump started, we are $39 trillion in debt, corruption in govt is rampant. What are Republicans focused on AGAIN today? Dr. Fauci.

The so-called president of the United States is a massive money launderer and cut off by the bank that discovered it. Yet the story barely registers with the legacy media. What a disgrace.

I love this country. It's got a lot of problems, but it's my home and I want it to be good and I think it could be good. I love my country and I want to celebrate our 250th Independence Day too And all day--ALL DAY--the administration has made it clear that they don't consider me a real American

Staggering levels of corruption. They’re using every possible lever of power to enrich themselves and their friends and families. And the “party of fiscal responsibility” simply doesn’t care.

If, at the end of this dark era, we actually have a Democratic president again, there is one thing they absolutely must take to heart: F*ck forgiveness. Our country will only unite behind criminal prosecution and prison sentences, before eventually, slowly, beginning to heal.

Trump attacked Massie because he demanded what Trump promised during his campaign. Kentuckians abandoned Massie because he demanded what they voted for during Trump’s campaign. That’s how screwed up the Republican Party has become.

This is easily the saddest time in American history. The absolute worst people are systematically destroying the country, and our system is completely failing to stop them.

Look if you've got a better way to run a country than "putting an illiterate octogenarian bigot on TV every few days to free associate and complain, and then everyone tries to figure out if it means we're about to start a war or not" I'd love to hear it. But the constitution says this is it.

When it all feels too heavy, put it down for a while. Do not let it break you, or turn you into the thing you despise. We’ve been fighting this madness for a while. It’s ok to feel weary. Do not spiral into despair. Hang tough. We’re in it together. We’ll get through it. Together.

He never had the money to pay for the ballroom. It was always a scam. We were always going to have to pay for it. They were just waiting for the right moment to hit us with the bill. This is now the time.
