Kitty so very fluffy.

It's that special time of year when they give the danger-kitties pumpkins to play with at The Wildcat Sanctuary in Sandstone, Minnesota. A much-needed timeline cleanse. 🐯🎃 (📷: wildcatsanctuary.org)

I’m not a political journalist, so was gladly surprised at the community I found here last night. To Americans anxious about the upcoming elections, a key thing we learned in Brazil that might help you: DO NOT engage with the far-right online. Don’t share rage bait. Amplify your people. Ignore them.

The poorest billionaire in California will make about $300 million this year. If we pass the CA wealth tax, he will only make $235 million. In exchange, millions of the poorest Californians will get health insurance. That's the tradeoff billionaires are not willing to make.

People who should give Marisa money: you want to see good journalism get done. People who shouldn't: you think that information and knowing things is dumb and useless, and have a diet primarily consisting of paste.

since California ballots are now out: prop 40 is the billionaire tax, and you should vote yes to stick it to them but both props 41 and 42 are designed to retroactively cancel the billionaire tax because they’re afraid they can’t beat it at the ballot box yes on 40, no on 41 and 42

Esteban is a good dude in a bad way. One year at FEST I think he was keys for seven bands. His GFM is mostly funded at this point but that's not going to cut it, so let's see if we can put some extra on top of that number.

MUTUAL AID Esteban, the keyboard player to the JER band, got in an accident and has to get a major arm surgery. He’s gonna be out of work during recovery, and needs help with medical cost + caring for his child He’s one the hardest working people I know,PLEASE SUPPROT IF U CAN gofund.me/53e941a1e

My favorite personal headcanon is that the Mako doesn't actually handle Like That, it's just that Shepard is a terrible driver but won't let anyone else take the wheel.

It really doesn't make sense to attribute those job losses to AI-the-technology, because if that were the case we'd be observing AI outputs displacing conventional entertainment products, and they're clearly not. Rather, the impact of AI is that AI-the-business is crowding out other investment.

Joey Politano🏳️‍🌈@josephpolitano.bsky.social

Hollywood has suffered the most in the AI era—with the movie & TV industry losing more than 100k jobs, nearly one-third of the sector’s total employment, over the last four years. Total employment in video production is approaching the fthe lowest levels in 30 years

fucked up that nigel farage is a brexiteer and pro-crypto. makes it hard to criticize him, what with him being eurodivergent and a miner

I'm sure SFPD's problems with consistent lawbreaking and generalized love of kicking the shit out of the populace can be resolved by giving them more of our money.

Mission Local@missionlocal.org

SFPD officers did not issue dispersal orders immediately before arresting 18 people at the “Stud Alley” party over Pride weekend, according to internal police documents and body camera footage. from @frankiesd.bsky.social missionlocal.org/2026/09/stud...

When Californians tell you we have no interest whatsoever in Gavin Newsom for president, it's shit like letting school kids roast to give PG&E a fat check.

Leah Stokes@leahstokes.bsky.social

Newsom withheld *legislatively appropriated* school AC funds for 2 years. Now he's handing them to a fossil fuel company, the week after half a million kids had their school day changed by extreme heat. If that's not Trumpian, I don't know what is. Shameful. calmatters.org/environment/...

Unless I'm very mistaken, treason charges would get brought in D.C. with a jury of D.C. residents.

A foreign adversary could not have hoped to harm the United States more effectively than Donald Trump’s presidency has.

Hey, what's everyone doing for Bandcamp Friday? I realized I had missed the new @vialband.bsky.social album so picked that up, but I feel like since the other place died all the new album announcements are only on Instagram, which I find unusable. Anyone hearing good new stuff?

I have, with my own eyes, watched my tax dollars in the form of missiles as they hit buildings inhabited by civilians. I'd much prefer subsidizing a grocery story I don't use.

Opinion: Mamdani's idea may sound appealing, but it's NYC taxpayers who will take the hit, subsidizing discounts they may never even use.

🚨 WE HAVE A DEAL! After three years, in a major step forward for our members, we have ratified our first contract with @propublica.org’s management. We deeply appreciate everyone who supported us along the way. Here are some of our big wins👇

So everything is going great, and we have all of our best and most competent people on it.

"A US government map of Africa mislabeled every country during a state department presentation at a global conference in Brazil this week, causing a stir among attenders who took screenshots and posted them online."

I bought the best tomatoes I could find at the farmers' market this morning. And they're... good. Better than supermarket tomatoes by far, they almost border on tasting like a tomato. And yet.

If we'd spent 1% of what we spent on AI garbage over the last decade on treating access to excellent tomatoes as a human right we would be not one jot further from AGI. No art, no science, would be in any way worse. But in the summer you'd have excellent tomatoes, and that could have been enough.

Y'all, I can't, I just can't. This technology hasn't advanced a lick since the Aibo, and at least that was kind of cute. It will not be ready for prime time in the next decade. If you are invested in this, you are losing that money.

Quick thinking having a tablecloth handy. I didn’t even notice the twitching from that dead robot.

hi this is a really big deal. Chaco Canyon is one of the most important historical sites in North America. the area tribes are extremely opposed to this. please please please comment on this with the BLM. it takes two minutes.

Daniel - Desert Apostate@hcexvangelical.bsky.social

The asshole administration is planning to remove the mining buffer around Chaco Canyon in New Mexico. This is being done without tribal or expert input and the public comment time is incredibly, and cowardly short. Please comment to help try and save Chaco. www.koat.com/article/chac...
